In an interview with Vanity Fair, Robert Pattinson shared that he almost believed the movie industry was fading away and it might be time for him to quit acting amidst Hollywood’s struggles due to the COVID-19 pandemic and two significant labor disputes. However, several films such as “The Brutalist,” a potential Oscar contender directed by his friend Brady Corbet, rekindled his enthusiasm for movies once more. Pattinson had previously worked with Corbet on the director’s first film, “The Childhood of a Leader.
Strangely enough, the movie business has faced some tough times lately, beginning with COVID and followed by strikes. For quite a while now, people have been predicting its demise, and it seemed like they might be right,” Pattinson commented. “I almost lost interest. It even became a bit concerning.
In recent months, we’ve seen an influx of exceptionally ambitious films,” he went on. “It appears that this year’s Oscar contenders will be quite intriguing, and it seems that a fresh group of filmmakers has caught the audience’s attention as well.”
Or even shorter:
“Recently, there’s been a surge of ambitious films that could potentially be this year’s Oscar nominees. There’s also a new wave of directors generating excitement among viewers.
Robert Pattinson is eagerly anticipating that his upcoming science-fiction black comedy, “Mickey 17,” directed by Bong Joon Ho (the genius behind “Parasite”), will be released during a time of widespread excitement for cinema. At present, Warner Bros. has scheduled the film for a U.S. theatrical debut on March 7, following its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival.
In simple terms, Robert Pattinson shared with Vanity Fair that for two years, it felt like every actor was asking, ‘What’s happening? Nothing’s exciting.’ But he wasn’t implying that nothing was good, just that it seemed too studio-produced. It seems now, however, that there are exciting roles everywhere.
Robert Pattinson will resume filming for “The Batman Part II”, set to begin shooting this year with a planned release in October 2027. However, he’s also busy with several independent projects. He’ll be working alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Lynne Ramsay’s upcoming film, “Die, My Love”. Last year, he completed production for “The Drama”, an A24 project co-starring Zendaya and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, known for “Dream Scenario”.
