As a devoted Pokémon Go player, I’ve been absolutely thrilled by the grand entrance of Dynamax Articuno! However, the excitement has been somewhat tempered due to an in-game restriction that previously prevented trainers like me from engaging in a battle against this legendary bird.
With the introduction of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics during the Max Out season, Pokémon GO by Niantic took on a fresh new vibe. Yet, upon the arrival of Max Monday events, gamers began spotting significant problems that impacted gameplay.
In order to join Max Battles, participants need to make a payment using Max Particles initially. These collectibles can be acquired by visiting Power Spots or simply walking around, but keep in mind that there are restrictions: Each day, players can earn no more than 800 Max Particles and they cannot store over 1000 Max Particles at any given time.
In other words, trainers are limited to only two battles per day against Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon because they exhaust their Max Particles in the process, and they’re not permitted to acquire additional Max Particles. Furthermore, if a trainer uses their Max Particles for Timed Research or to prepare for a battle like Dynamax Articuno, they may find themselves unable to engage in the fight at all due to lack of Max Particles.
The Max Particle limit won’t let players enjoy the game
As a devoted Pokémon Go enthusiast, I recently found myself regretting my decision to utilize my Max Particles to enhance Max Moves instead of participating in the Dynamax Articuno Max Monday event. Unfortunately, I was unable to partake in the battle that followed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Disgusted with the game developers right now

As a gamer, I found myself growing increasingly frustrated when I realized that the sole means of taking on the mighty Dynamax Articuno seemed to be by shelling out some cold hard cash for Max Particle Packs from the in-game shop with real money.
Users expressed unity by posting messages saying similar experiences occurred to them, with one user commenting, “Max Monday requires an additional reward for particles”, implying that the one-hour events ought to have a revised maximum particle limit to ensure everyone can participate in the battles.
Others found the Dynamax system particularly critical, as one user expressed, “The whole Dynamax system is downright disgraceful,” while another agreed, stating, “It’s a pay-to-win situation. You pay with your wallet.
Some users expressed frustration about the difficulty they encountered in defeating Dynamax Articuno, with one user stating, “Articuno escaped me. I won’t attempt another one. If these Dynamax raids continue to be this challenging, it’s not worth the effort. It’s tough enough to win with a team of four. The Niantic developers seem to intentionally make it difficult to enjoy the event. It’s downright unfair. I wouldn’t suggest participating in them. A waste of time and resources.
On a special Max Monday, Articuno (in Dynamax form) was the first of the legendary bird trio to appear. Following this, Zapdos (also in Dynamax form) will make its debut on January 27th, and Moltres (again, in Dynamax form) will follow suit on February 3rd.
Based on the initial response, it seems there’s a lot of discussion about the gameplay. Players will just need to stay tuned to find out if Niantic decides to make any adjustments over the coming days.
