On Tuesday, Justin Baldoni‘s legal representatives shared several clips from the movie “It Ends With Us” as part of their efforts to challenge Blake Lively’s accusations of sexual misconduct.
Earlier this month, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, the director and co-star, alleging harassment and retaliation. She claimed that he acted inappropriately and offensively towards her during filming, with one instance being his behavior during the shooting of a slow-dance scene where their characters were meant to be falling in love.
In the lawsuit, she claimed that Baldoni leaned towards her, gradually tracing his lips from her ear to her neck while saying, “It smells wonderful.”
This version maintains the original meaning but uses simpler and more natural language.
Baldoni’s group shared three different perspectives from the slow-motion segment, indicating that these were all parts of the footage filmed during that specific scene.
As a cinephile, I’d put it this way: “The actors in this scene are truly playing their parts gracefully, showing evident respect and professionalism towards each other.
The video evidence captures the two actors debating on how to depict the scene’s intimacy. At one instance in the recording, Baldoni attempts to kiss Lively, but she seems reluctant. She subsequently proposes, “I believe we should discuss this instead. I think it’s more romantic if we’re dancing and conversing.
Later on, Baldoni compares their interactions by stating that Liv Tyler and her spouse, Ryan Reynolds, frequently engage in conversations, whereas he and his partner, Emily, occasionally find themselves simply gazing at one another.
He says, “I believe it would scare you.” She replies, “I’d say something like, ‘Oh dear, I just met a psychopath.’
Last week, Baldoni brought a lawsuit against Lively. In this legal action, he claimed that Lively found it difficult to follow instructions, and frequently strayed from his intended character during the slow dance scene.
The video seems to capture an incident that Lively found objectionable, where Baldoni complimented her by saying she smelled nice. In this scene, Baldoni can be seen snuffling at Lively’s neck, and he inquired, “Is my beard bothering you today?
She laughs and says, “I’m probably getting spray-tan on you.”
“It smells good,” he responds.
In the lawsuit filed by Lively, it is claimed that “Baldoni was kissing Lively inappropriately, unrelated to their acting roles.” The suit further states that after she voiced her objections, Baldoni replied, “I’m not interested in you at all.
Lively’s team did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the video.
