Palworld Roadmap Includes Lots of Exciting New Features, Including Co-Op Cross-Play

The developer of Palworld, Pocketpair, has shared details about upcoming updates for their early-access game featuring creature collecting and survival elements. One significant feature under development is co-operative cross-play. Although no specific launch date has been announced, Pocketpair has divided the improvements into major and other enhancements that players can anticipate before Palworld’s complete release.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the developer has revealed some exciting updates for our beloved game, Pocketpair! Beyond crossplay, they’re working on world transfers for Pals, innovative methods to boost our critters, and groundbreaking technologies for us to explore as players. It’s even more exhilarating to learn about potential collaborations with other games, such as Terraria in the survival-crafting genre! Additionally, the studio has planned improvements to world-object-placement, base Pals, and overall game optimization. Can’t wait to dive back into this amazing world!

Moving forward, we’ve been consistently improving our game since its Early Access launch, and we’re excited to continue enhancing Palworld as we gear up for the official release! Here’s a sneak peek at what lies ahead:

– Crossplay for Co-op Games
– Transferring Pals between Worlds

2023 saw the release of Palworld’s significant update in December, introducing a fresh island for players to discover, an array of new Pals, innovative gameplay features, and much more. Lauded as one of the early successes of 2024, Palworld drew comparisons to Pokemon, leading some to wonder if potential legal issues lay ahead. In September, Nintendo took legal action against Pocketpair in a Japanese court, accusing them of infringing on their patents. Nintendo is pursuing an injunction against Palworld and claims for roughly $33,000 in damages, payable to both Nintendo and The Pokemon Company.

As an enthusiast, I’d like to share a recent update about Pocketpair: they disclosed that Nintendo claimed infringement on three of their patents, which primarily revolved around the gameplay dynamics in Palworld, specifically the mechanism of tossing balls (known as Pal Spheres) to capture creatures, maneuvering characters within the game, and aiming at targets. In response to this, back in December, Pocketpair made a change: they took out the Pal Spheres from the game. Now, when summoned, Pals will appear alongside me instead!

As the legal proceedings unfold, I’m still diligently working away on Palworld. In fact, I’ve recently brought back an old favorite, Overdungeon from 2019, which is now available on Nintendo Switch for fellow gamers to enjoy!
