Electronic Arts warns: Origin app will be officially shut down

If you’re currently using the Origin app and haven’t made the switch to the EA App (released in 2022), it’s likely that you’ll need to do so soon. Assuming your computer meets the system requirements for the newer software, otherwise, you may lose access to the games in your library due to lack of compatibility.

End of Origin app

Electronic Arts recently announced an update requirement for their app, which is due to a change in Microsoft’s support policy for 32-bit operating systems. This update notice affects Origin as well, and starting from April 17th, support for the Origin launcher will no longer be provided, effectively marking its end.

On April 17, 2025, Origin will shut down, as Microsoft has stopped supporting 32-bit software.

If you use Origin, you need to upgrade to the EA app, which requires a 64-bit version of Windows.

If your hardware doesn’t support 64-bit Windows, EA suggests buying a new device in order to continue enjoying their games.

You’ll need to upgrade to a 64-bit operating system on your device to play your games.

To run a 64-bit version of Windows, make sure your PC has a 64-bit-capable processor.

If your PC doesn’t have one, you’ll need to use a newer computer to play your games on the EA app.

This data may not be significant for many, but for those who persistently use Origin, take heed. The time is drawing near when you’ll have to bid farewell to it forever.
