Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy: Is Zhalo Supercell Making a Comeback?

Bungie is introducing significant updates to Destiny 2 through Episode Heresy, which will feature a comprehensive revamp of the Arc subclasses, creating an ideal moment for the reintroduction of a well-loved Exotic item.

In the original Destiny, only a few select entities categorized as Exotics, including Zhalo Supercell, have not been transferred to the sequel.

The studio decided not to bring back certain exotic weapons, such as “No Land Beyond,” primarily because of balance issues. However, in terms of the Arc-element Auto Rifle that belongs to Zhalo, it has mostly been replaced by other equipment over the past seven years.

The special skill of Riskrunner, similar to Zhalo’s lightning chain ability, can link electric shocks between enemies, but with a condition attached. However, one of Zhalo’s unique traits – its status as a primary weapon that inflicts Elemental damage – would not be significant in Destiny 2’s game environment.

Yet, the debut of an exclusive mechanism unique to Arc in Heresy might make the revamped Zhalo Supercell an ideal match for the Light subclass.

Bolt Charge

The term “Bolt Charge” refers to an additional power that Guardians can build up by utilizing particular Fragments, Aspects, and weapon enhancements.

Each stack boosts my melee power, and once I accumulate 10 stacks, the next skill I use will release a lightning bolt dealing damage similar to Solar Blasts.

In what way might Zhalo Supercell blend with this fresh gameplay design? Since Bungie has verified that weapon traits will generate Bolt Stacks, transforming the Auto Rifle into an Exotic-level Bolt Charge producer would maintain its status as a harmonious Arc device.

Zhalo Supercell is one of a handful of Exotics from Destiny not available in the sequel.

In the remake of Zhalo’s initial version, there will undoubtedly be significant departures. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this with Ice Breaker in Episode Revenant; similarly, Dragon’s Breath and Hard Light underwent substantial changes from their original forms as well.
