preparations are nearing for the initial division split of the now-named LTA North (previously known as LCS). As its title suggests, numerous alterations have occurred within North America’s top-tier League of Legends competition. Here’s a quick rundown of what you should be aware of before it begins.

During the 2024 off-season, the League of Legends competitive scene has been marked by considerable upheaval. Although Worlds 2024 set new viewership records, a significant restructuring throughout the entire League of Legends competition led to numerous teams disbanding and fundamental changes in regional leagues that will last forever.

As a die-hard fan of North American League of Legends, I’m buzzing with anticipation! Disguised breaking through to tier 1 League is a massive deal, and it’s exciting to think about the fresh blood in the scene. Plus, there are teams reorganizing their rosters left and right, trying to dethrone the LCS titans – it promises to be an intense battle! Not to mention, the international competition between North and South is uncharted territory for us. It’s going to be an exhilarating ride!

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that this journey will culminate in an unprecedented global spectacle known as The First Stand. This groundbreaking event brings together the cream of the crop from every region, setting them on a collision course against each other. Within the League of Two Alliances (LTA), only one formidable team hailing from either the North or South conferences will have the honor to represent their region in this thrilling competition.

What happened to the LCS?

2025 will see significant transformations, as the League Championship Series (LCS) is no more; it’s now known as the League of Teams Alliance North (LTA North). Comprising 76 former LCS teams, NRG Esports has chosen to step away from the league. To represent South America, LYON has joined the ranks, and Disguised Toast has been granted a temporary spot as a guest player.

100 Thieves features a special appearance, albeit one that’s somewhat intricate. If you’ve been pondering about the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) broadcast for this year, it’s now known as LTA North. Rest assured, you’re on the right track.

As a gamer, I’m eagerly anticipating that the initial phase (Split 1) of our tournament will be brief compared to the subsequent splits. It’s merely a sprint lasting a few short weeks before the epic showdown between LTA North and South teams. For this round, it’s a best-of-3 sets battle. If I manage to win two out of three, I’m in the clear. However, if I lose two, I’m out of the competition. Let’s see who rises to the top!

In the final two match days of the ongoing split, an additional Best-of-One (Bo1) game has been added to determine the rankings more accurately.
