Cameron Diaz Says She’s Open For a ‘Mask’ Sequel as Long as Jim Carrey is ‘On Board’: ‘I’ve Been Riding Those Coattails From Day One’

Cameron Diaz is ready to go green (again).

After making her comeback on Netflix’s “Back in Action” following a decade-long break from acting, Diaz has expressed interest in reprising her role for a sequel to the 1994 film “The Mask”, provided that Jim Carrey is also part of the project.

She mentioned that if Jim agrees, she’s essentially been benefiting from his support since the beginning, when it comes to potentially reprising her role as nightclub singer Tina Carlyle. The film ‘The Mask’, in which Jim Carrey played Stanley Ipkis, a normal bank teller who is transformed by a mask that gives him powers of a mischievous spirit.

Previously, Carrey indicated to Comicbook.com that he would consider reprising his role in “The Mask” sequel, as long as the screenplay offered sufficient quality.

Gee, I’m certain this is the correct approach,” said Carrey, fresh from portraying Doctor Robotnik once more in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’.

Carrey expressed, ‘If someone had a sound plan, I suppose… It’s not primarily about the money.’ He jokes about the money… Yet, he remains uncertain. One can never be certain about such matters. He mentioned his desire to retire, but I believe he was speaking more about relinquishing control, because once a promising idea or a team of people you genuinely enjoy collaborating with present themselves, things have a tendency to shift.

During the same Access Hollywood interview, Diaz likewise indicated her desire to reprise her role in a new “Charlie’s Angels” sequel, joining forces once more with Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. She playfully suggested that her “Back in Action” co-star Jamie Foxx might take on the role of Bosley.

“I’m gonna text [Liu] right now and pitch her Jamie as Bosley.” Diaz teased.
