‘Extraordinary,’ ‘Shardlake’ Will Not Be Renewed for Further Seasons on Disney+ (EXCLUSIVE)

It appears that Disney+ UK originals “Extraordinary” and “Shardlake” will not be renewed for additional seasons, as we have been informed by our sources.

As a movie enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly following the edgy comedy series “Extraordinary,” starring Máiréad Tyers and Sofia Oxenham as a duo of unpredictable flatmates in a universe filled with superpowers. We’ve enjoyed two thrilling seasons, but unfortunately, the suspenseful cliffhanger at the end of Season 2 – where Jen plunges into a void – will remain unresolved as there won’t be a third season.

The historical mystery series ‘Shardlake’, which features Arthur Hughes, Sean Bean, and Anthony Boyle, began its run last summer with four parts, but unfortunately, it won’t be coming back for a second season.

The representative from the streaming platform has announced that ‘Extraordinary’ and ‘Shardlake’, two Disney+ Original series, will not be renewed for additional seasons. We’re incredibly proud of the side-splitting, award-winning ‘Extraordinary’, brought to life by a brilliant British and Irish cast, crew, and production partner Sid Gentle Films, as well as creator Emma Moran’s exceptional writing. Similarly, we appreciate Stephen Butchard for his adaptation of C.J. Sansom’s beloved novel for ‘Shardlake’, the entire cast under the leadership of Arthur Hughes, and the crew. We look forward to collaborating with everyone involved in these shows again in the future.

Regardless of any less-than-ideal announcements, Disney+ is persisting in funding British originals, having already started production on the second season of its successful adaptation “Rivals” based on Jilly Cooper’s work. In addition, there are other upcoming projects such as “A Thousand Blows,” set to debut next month, and documentaries focusing on cricketer Freddie Flintoff, the late “Love Island” host Caroline Flack, and the tragic story of Jean Charles de Menezes.
