It appears that the era when large game studios frequently produced Metroidvania games has passed, with most such productions now in the hands of smaller, dedicated developers. While there are still series like Metroid from Nintendo and Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, it’s Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight that left a significant impact on the gaming community. Released in 2017, Hollow Knight included four free DLCs, and fans were thrilled when they heard about a sequel. However, the anticipation for Hollow Knight Silksong has been intense, to say the least, driving the dedicated fanbase through various stages of excitement. Yet, there seems to be some good news on the horizon, as one of the most influential figures in the HK community shared an intriguing update…
Hollow Knight Silksong on Nintendo Direct 2025?
Currently, it appears that any information about Hollow Knight Silksong is just a joke, but I want to share something intriguing with you. A well-recognized member of the HK speedrunning community named Fireb0rn has posted an engaging video (which you can check out below) discussing strange alterations that took place on January 16, 2025, in one of Team Cherry’s members X’s accounts.

William Pellen changed his profile picture to an image of a Brooklyn Blackout Cake on Reddit, which caught the attention of user E1331. This might seem odd and unrelated to gaming, but another Reddit user, skibidiohiorizzlrr, did a reverse search on this sweet photo and discovered it linked to Bon Appetit’s recipe page for the Brooklyn Blackout Cake. Although the cake appears to be a hoax, the date when the recipe was posted stands out – April 2nd. Coincidentally, Nintendo Direct 2025 is set for that same day.
In support of this theory, William later shared a cryptic statement: “Something big is on its way. Keep your eyes shut tomorrow.” This statement seems connected to Imagine Dragons’ song “Eyes Closed,” which was hinted at on April 2nd via an Instagram post. The trailer’s content has sparked speculation among fans about new updates tomorrow, but it’s more probable that the focus should remain on the date itself.
The peculiarities don’t stop there. It turns out that William’s middle name has been altered to “Little Bomey”, which is a vineyard in Adelaide, a city in Australia, where Team Cherry operates. A Google search for this wine also brought up results linking it to the month of April, though following that tweet, the search results appeared biased.
The current situation offers us genuine optimism that might not transform into disappointment. As Fireb0rn notes, and I concur, it would be quite inappropriate for TC to joke about Silksong at this moment. If they did, fan discontent would escalate. Consequently, there’s a real possibility that something significant is occurring with regards to this game. Fingers crossed, let’s hope it isn’t just another teaser!
