Nintendo has finally unveiled the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2, and the countdown to its release is almost up! Here’s a list of games that early adopters will have the pleasure of playing as soon as they get their hands on the new console.
Just like how the original Switch brought a slew of exclusive and multiplatform games at its debut, I expect the same with the Switch 2. These will come from both in-house developers and third parties. The third-party games could vary from ported versions to unique experiences tailored specifically for this new console.
In every new generation, at least one of Nintendo’s renowned first-party series such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid, or another, will take the lead for Nintendo. However, the question arises – which franchise will represent Nintendo’s next-gen hardware? Here is the complete list of Switch 2 games you’ll have from its launch.
Every Nintendo Switch 2 launch title
First-party
- New Mario Kart
So far, only one new game has been officially announced for the Nintendo Switch 2: a forthcoming Mario Kart title. A quick glance might have made you miss it at the end of the reveal trailer, as it didn’t provide many details about the upcoming edition. However, we can expect to learn more during the direct on April 2.
Additionally, it’s important to mention that the Switch 2 has backward compatibility with the original model, which means a majority of your previously purchased games, regardless if they were physical copies or downloaded digitally, can be played on the updated system as well.
Rumored launch titles
Although many of the initial game titles are still unknown, there have been whispers and hints about additional first and third-party games potentially available for the system at its debut:
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
- Halo: The Master Chief Collection
- Pokemon Legends Z-A
- Professor Layton and the New World of Steam
- Metroid Prime 4
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake/Rebirth
Yet, nothing from these suggestions has been endorsed by Nintendo as factual, so it’s wise to approach them cautiously. Wait for an official statement before considering them as certain.
