Sony has effortlessly refurbished PS5 games, such as Demon’s Souls at launch and The Last of Us: Part II Remastered last year, but Bloodborne remains unrefurbished and is yet to debut on PC. Shuhei Yoshida, a former Sony executive, offers an explanation for this situation.
As a die-hard fan, I can share that during an appearance on Kinda Funny Gamescast, Yoshida openly confessed that Bloodborne is the game he gets asked about most frequently on social media. Though no longer with Sony, Yoshida shared insights into why a remaster hasn’t materialized yet, as per user Shinobi602.
In his words, “Hidetaka Miyazaki-san holds Bloodborne very close to his heart and what he crafted.” This passion, coupled with his immense success and busy schedule, explains why a remaster hasn’t happened. However, if anyone were to take it on, Miyazaki-san doesn’t want it touched due to his deep attachment to the game. And that, my fellow enthusiasts, is my theory, backed by the PlayStation team who honor his wishes.
Shuhei Yoshida expresses that Hidetaka Miyazaki deeply cherishes the world of Bloodborne, which he built. Given Miyazaki’s immense success and occupied schedule, Yoshida suggests that he might be keen but lacks the time to work on it himself, and he prefers not to delegate it to others.

Interestingly, game developer From Software has publicly voiced its desire for Bloodborne to be available on PC. Miyazaki himself has suggested he wouldn’t object to a PC version, but warned that he might face consequences if he openly advocated for it. However, it should be noted that while some elements of Bloodborne were recently made available on the PS5, this is not the full game port you might be expecting. Instead, Astro Bot’s Digital Deluxe Edition includes a Bloodborne-themed skin as an additional feature.
Bloodborne, an action RPG, turns 10 years old this March, initially released on PlayStation 4. Now, you can play it on PlayStation 5 due to backward compatibility. Interestingly, From Software, the game’s developer, has recently revealed Elden Ring Nightreign, a cooperative spin-off.
