Modern gamers are blessed with a wealth of gaming collaborations spanning multiple genres today. For instance, the enduring Marvel VS. Capcom series caters to fighting game enthusiasts, while Fortnite boasts numerous skin and event partnerships, ranging from the Gundam franchise to the Jordan brand’s iconic logo. Even gacha games like Honkai: Star Rail have started participating in this trend, as evidenced by its collaboration with the visual novel game Fate/Stay Night this year, which marked HSR‘s initial crossover endeavor. It’s likely that such collaborations will continue for games like Honkai: Star Rail and its counterparts in the future.
The teamwork between Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night was initially unveiled during the game’s Version 2.4 live broadcast. During HSR’s trailer at Gamescom 2024, players caught a sneak peek of one of the Fate characters participating in the crossover event. It appears that the voice who referred to Pom-Pom as their new master is Archer, a well-known character from the Fate series.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that I eagerly anticipate participating in the exhilarating crossover event between Fate/Stay Night and Honkai: Star Rail in the heart of 2025’s third quarter! The fusion of these two iconic franchises promises an unforgettable gaming experience.
Crossovers Like the Fate/Stay Night Collab Should Happen More Often in Honkai: Star Rail
It appears that “Honkai: Star Rail” and “Fate/Stay Night” share a common ground, as both feature anime-inspired art styles. While “Honkai: Star Rail” leans towards science fiction, it also incorporates numerous fantasy elements, such as in its recent Amphoreus storyline. Consequently, the characters from “Fate/Stay Night,” including their mages and warriors, might find themselves fitting comfortably within the universe of “Honkai: Star Rail.” The possibility of a successful crossover between these two titles is intriguing, but it’s just one of many possibilities. These collaborations could bring about advantages that extend not only to “Honkai: Star Rail,” but also to other games within the HoYoVerse.
HoYoverse’s Games are Perfect Platforms for Collaboration
As a passionate gamer, I’ve been captivated by the expansive multiverse narratives in HoYoverse’s creations – Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, and Zenless Zone Zero. It’s not hard to imagine these games serving as ideal arenas for collaborations with other titles. That’s because their rich lore hints at the existence of an endless array of worlds and realities. So, when we encounter characters from other universes, it feels like a natural extension of the storyline rather than a surprise.
The task lies in discovering fascinating partnerships, such as the forthcoming Fate/Stay Night cross-over. However, HoYoverse could opt for safer choices by selecting games and media that align with each title’s genre, or go against the grain by concocting outlandish collaborations. It would prove captivating to witness a Hades x ZZZ collaboration, where Zagreus carves his way through Hollows in New Eridu, or a Persona 5 and HSR crossover with Arsene acting as Joker’s Memosprite.
Honkai: Star Rail’s New Crossover Shouldn’t Follow Genshin Impact’s Path
Back in 2021, the older game, Genshin Impact, had a significant crossover event. This collaboration allowed players to obtain a free version of Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn within versions 2.1 and 2.2 of Genshin Impact. Despite having an excellent design, her gameplay performance is not as strong as other Cryo units. It appears that Genshin Impact has ceased collaborating with other games since then, and it’s been close to four years now without any similar large-scale events happening within the game.
HSR could profit from Genshin’s lessons by crafting its Fate/Stay Night collaboration characters excessively potent, similar to many of its latest additions. This strategy would motivate players to unlock and employ these characters within the game. Additionally, the unveiling of these units should be accompanied by a compelling narrative, as some gamers were disenchanted when Aloy unexpectedly arrived in Teyvat without a clear explanation.
As a passionate fan, I must say that the collaboration between Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night ranks among the most daring ventures in the HoYoverse game universe yet. Here’s to more creative brainstorming for upcoming crossovers! The potential for such events is immense, and if executed skillfully, they could elevate both games to unprecedented levels of popularity.
