This summer, I’m pumped to return to the Las Vegas Convention Center for another epic gaming event – Evo 2025! Mark your calendars for August 1-3, because it’s time to compete in a global fighting game tournament once more. The Evo crew has just announced the complete list of games that will be featured this year, with seven current favorites and an exciting throwback tournament making the cut. I can hardly wait!
This year, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is set to participate in the Throwback Tournament, following Street Fighter III: Third Strike from last year. Conversely, Fatal Fury: City of Wolves will debut at Evo for the first time approximately four months after its release on April 24th. It will then compete alongside returning games such as Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about the expanded tournament lineup announced by Evo! In addition to the primary Arena competitions, we’ll see Rivals of Aether II, The King of Fighters XV, Blazblue: Centralfiction, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, and several other exciting titles. Further details on this extended list will be unveiled during the Evo Awards in February.
The full Evo 2025 lineup, is below:
- Street Fighter 6 (third Evo appearance)
- Tekken 8 (second Evo appearance)
- Guilty Gear Strive (fourth Evo appearance)
- Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves (first Evo appearance)
- Mortal Kombat 1 (second Evo appearance)
- Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising (second Evo appearance)
- Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes (second Evo appearance)
- Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (throwback tournament, 12th Evo appearance)
This year, Evo’s calendar is packed with events, including one taking place in Las Vegas. Additionally, tournaments are scheduled for Japan from May 9th to 11th and France from October 10th to 12th. Moreover, they announced a future tournament in Singapore, though the exact dates have yet to be disclosed.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the previously mentioned Evo Awards will take place in Los Angeles on February 15. This event will honor winners across various categories related to fighting games, including Match of the Year and Fighting Game Release of the Year. The evening promises exciting announcements from some of Evo’s publishing partners, which are exclusive to this event. Furthermore, a special Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 exhibition with four players—Justin Wong, Michael “IFC Yipes” Mendoza, Sanford Kelly, and Duc Do—will be showcased as well.
