The second season of “Squid Game” has garnered 152.5 million views, making it the third most popular TV series on Netflix in terms of total views, with only its first season (265 million) and “Wednesday” (252 million) having more.
In just four days following its release on December 26, “Squid Game” Season 2 garnered an astounding 68 million views, breaking Netflix’s record for the biggest TV debut. A week later, this number had swelled to 126.2 million views over a period of 11 days, surpassing any other Netflix series in terms of viewership in such a short timeframe. It’s worth noting that “Squid Game” continued to dominate the non-English TV top 10 list for another week, and the original Season 1 reappeared at number 3.
In the English-language rankings for the week of January 6th, Harlan Coben’s limited series “Missing You” claimed the top position with a viewership of 15.2 million. Trailing closely behind was the historical drama “American Primeval,” which accumulated 10.4 million views, and the documentary series about Jerry Springer, titled “Fights, Camera, Action,” garnered 7.7 million views.
The airport-based Netflix thriller movie “Carry-On,” released on December 13, added another 7.2 million views to its tally and continued to rank No. 2 among English films, trailing behind “The Secret Life of Pets 2” in the top position. As is often the case, children’s content dominates the film chart, with “The Secret Life of Pets,” two “Despicable Me” movies, and “Sonic the Hedgehog” also making the list.
