Recently unveiled Sony patent proposals demonstrate advanced artificial intelligence capabilities designed to forecast user actions, thereby minimizing online delay, and a peripheral device enabling users to manipulate the PS5’s DualSense controller as if it were a firearm for more immersive gaming experiences.

In simpler terms, the proposed AI patent (noted by tech4gamers) introduces a system that anticipates and performs actions players intend, reducing the impact of online delay. This system employs a camera to observe player movements and makes predictions accordingly. Another potential version of this system could guess future moves based on incomplete inputs from the players.

The patent for the DualSense controller was initially filed in June, but its details were disclosed earlier in January (as observed by GameRant). Players would grip the right “handle” of the DualSense, assuming a shooting stance and using the area between the right trigger and back button as a sight. The patent implies that this attachment could potentially be combined with additional accessories, such as the PSVR2 headset.

Among the latest Sony patent applications, there are designs for a DualSense controller that could accommodate and power earbuds, as well as one that would adjust its temperature according to in-game events. While patents do not guarantee the creation of future products, they can give us insights into a company’s potential ideas. It has been speculated that Sony might be working on a handheld version of the PS5.
