Nintendo Reportedly Sent Lawyers To Genki About Switch 2 Mockup At CES

It’s highly probable that the unveiling and disclosure of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be among the most significant gaming events in 2025. Recently, Genki unwittingly played a role in this narrative when they displayed a prototype of the Switch 2 at CES. Now, rumors suggest that Nintendo’s legal team paid a visit to Genki’s booth regarding those Switch 2 prototypes.

Initially, it was journalist Julien Tellouck who disclosed that Nintendo’s legal team had intervened in a certain event. Moreover, he shared that sources from Genki informed him that the company dismissed Nintendo’s lawyers, as they hadn’t signed a non-disclosure agreement with them.

In simpler terms, Tellouck mentioned that he conversed with an individual from Genki nearby him, who shared that Nintendo had visited accompanied by lawyers. However, there was no need for reprimand since neither party had ever signed a contract or non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Nintendo.

Later on, Nintendo released a statement clarifying that the gaming hardware Genki showcased at CES, which they claimed to be Nintendo’s, was not official and had not been supplied by Nintendo. In an interview with IGN, a representative from Genki expressed shock about the story and mentioned that they believed what was displayed may have already been leaked prior to the event.

The significance for Nintendo is immense, with one expert predicting that the Switch 2 could potentially sell approximately 4.3 million consoles in the United States by the end of this year. Additionally, there’s speculation that Nintendo might announce the Switch 2 as early as this week, potentially aiming for a summer release. However, until an official announcement is made, the buzz about the next-generation console will persist.
