In NCIS, Scott Wolf assumed the character of Jonathan Cole, a crafty special ops agent with a sinister bent. Though his part in the show was relatively minor, it left a significant impression on him personally, as he identified areas where he could improve and further develop his acting skills.

In his role as a special ops agent, Wolf portrayed a character proficient with firearms, who was not only seen carrying them on multiple occasions but also using them. Interestingly, this character found himself handling a gun during a TV series scene where Jonathan Cole fired at two individuals. During an interview with TV Insider, Wolf shared insights into his initial experience of filming the scene that required him to manipulate the firearm for the first time.

I used to serve in the Navy Seals. Over countless training sessions, I’ve fired thousands of bullets. In a dramatic scene, I found myself needing to fire at two individuals. The event unfolded in slow motion as I emerged from behind a wall, and they returned fire. As their shot rang out, it was an intense experience.

After viewing the video from the scene, Scott mused that it looked quite impressive, giving him a somewhat Navy SEAL-like appearance. In high school, he was probably not considered someone who would become a Navy SEAL.

After the shot was fired, the actor confessed that his subsequent reaction was due to the gun being extraordinarily loud, as he had never used it before. Consequently, he believed the director might decide to re-film the scene.

In simpler terms, when I realized our discussion was coming up, I prepared myself for the scene where an object would detonate near me. This allowed me to maintain a composed appearance, ensuring it didn’t seem like I was inexperienced with firearms.

As a dedicated fan, I can attest that Scott Wolf truly immersed himself in his role during the intense gunfire sequence on NCIS. Despite being meticulously prepared, there were moments when he momentarily slipped out of character. Specifically, during the initial take, his genuine surprise at the sound of the gunshot was evident, as it wasn’t part of the rehearsed scenario. Consequently, a re-shoot was necessary to ensure that the scene conveyed the required level of credibility for his portrayal of a special ops operative.
