Wicked 2 will include new Glinda song, confirms Ariana Grande

The excitement for the largest musical of 2024, Wicked 2 or For Good, continues unabated, and fans eagerly anticipating its release will be thrilled to know that Ariana Grande has verified the creation of a brand-new song specifically for the character of Glinda.

In the initial release of Wicked, you’ll find some of its most iconic songs such as ‘Defying Gravity’ and ‘Popular’. Moreover, with a well-known soundtrack, the new film swiftly climbed to the top of the box office at the year-end in 2024.

To clarify, just because the first part of the show doesn’t have as many notable musical moments, it doesn’t mean the second half lacks them altogether. In fact, both “No Good Deed” and “For Good” will be featured in the upcoming sequel (set for release in November this year). Additionally, there are some fresh tunes that will make their debut too.

Actually, one of these items is owned by Glinda, and it’s significant to her character development in the second part of her storyline.

Glinda’s new song in Wicked: For Good is a “pivotal moment”

Ariana Grande has verified that a fresh tune penned by the composer Stephen Schwartz for Glinda will feature in the sequel.

Grande explained to Variety that this point in Glinda’s story is crucial. It reveals an aspect of Glinda we haven’t witnessed before. In the play, this transformation occurs backstage.

In the film, she takes a pivotal action that shapes her character, and it’s an honor to perform this song, as I am the first to give it voice as Glinda.

Grandesaid she hoped the latest number might find a place in the live-action stage show, adding, “How delightful would that be?

Apart from Glinda’s role in Wicked: For Good being sung by Grande, another character – Elphaba – will also receive a new song. In December, it was announced that Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, would be performing an original composition she helped write herself.

She shared that she worked together on one of the latest songs, and it holds a unique significance for her. During its filming, the whole team was moved to tears. She hopes the audience is prepared – this song truly resonates with Elphaba’s core identity.

Wicked: For Good will be released on November 21, 2025.
