Ninja predicts Storm’s dramatic rise from bottom to top is “not a good sign”

Ninja cautions Marvel Rivals gamers about the sudden surge in power of Storm, as this rapid climb to the top of the game’s meta (strategy) could potentially be a worrying trend.

In Season 1, Storm’s enhancements came after a tumultuous Season 0. She was generally perceived as underachieving, with minimal damage potential and inadequate team support. Players seldom opted for her, and when they did, she frequently failed to leave a significant mark. Consequently, the developers decided to carry out a comprehensive revamp on her abilities.

In the new update, Storm’s seasonal damage has been amplified by 5%. Additionally, the speed of her Wind Blade projectiles has been accelerated from 100 meters per second to 150 meters per second. Furthermore, her left-click damage and Bolt Rush damage have both increased. Moreover, the damage falloff for her abilities has decreased by half.

Notably, the cool-down time for her Chain Lightning Team-Up with Thor decreased from 20 seconds to 15 seconds. This adjustment aimed at enhancing her effectiveness in competitive matches and making her a more desirable choice in team formations.

In the first season, Storm quickly moved from being underutilized to becoming excessively powerful on the battlefield. This transition happened quite swiftly.

Ninja can’t take Storm’s buffs in Marvel Rivals Season 1

During the stream, Ninja expressed his worry after competing and teaming up with Storm main players. He bluntly exclaimed, “Storm is incredibly overpowered,” letting out his frustration.

Following our defeat against their squad, it turned out that the player known as Storm had been the one to deal the decisive blows. In fact, she managed to eliminate us with just two uses of her ultimate ability, leaving me and both my healers without a chance to respond. It was almost instantaneous – snap, snap, and we were eliminated.

The devastation was so immense that Ninja couldn’t resist commenting, “Wow, our Storm has managed a triple kill! Keep going, there’s no turning back now.

It wasn’t just Ninja who felt concerned; others were also questioning whether Storm’s increased power level had been taken a bit too far, suggesting that her enhancements might have been excessive.

Instead of explicitly stating his reasons, enhancing Storm’s abilities from bottom to top might disrupt the current game metagame, making it seem like excessive adjustment rather than refining the character’s weaknesses.

In Marvel Rivals’ gameplay, the meta is constantly evolving, and in Season 1, we’re witnessing a significant increase in the use of Mr. Fantastic’s “FANTASTIC” elastic ultimate move, as well as Sue Storm’s formidable crowd control, invisibility, and healing powers.
