Destiny 2 devs concede Revenant Act 3 trailer blunder misrepresented Slayer’s Fang

It seems we’re really enjoying the latest Slayer’s Fang exotic, especially when paired with a specific Titan setup, but it’s evident that not everyone is head over heels for the newest weapon in Destiny 2’s Act 3.

On the game’s Reddit forum, a player noticed that the trailer appears to instigate ‘damage from the void rainfall following a kill’. (Or alternatively, ‘the trailer seems to show a ‘void rain damage’ occurring post-kill.’)

The additional features or benefits this weapon is advertised to have aren’t actually what it delivers, according to the poster. They seem to think that the promotional video may have exaggerated the capabilities of the new weapon a bit too much.

Bungie responds to Slayer’s Fang trailer criticism

According to the user, they display the name of the shotgun, demonstrate someone using it to make kills, and then swiftly transition to a scene where the target is hit with a burst of void destruction, all happening in the same frame.

As a gamer, I’ve often pondered whether the extra damage came from the Catalyst on my weapon. But in truth, it comes from the Apothecary’s Satchel I carry with me.

The special feature of this weapon isn’t related to the “void rain”. Instead, it’s a fresh perk from the current seasonal artifact known as ‘Old God’s Rite’. This ability activates upon encountering a Void Breach.

The response from the Destiny 2 team’s Reddit account has garnered more downvotes than upvotes so far.

The developers shared that they had attempted to capture a moment of the Artifact perk being triggered in the trailer, however upon reevaluation, it appears as though the activation might seem accidental due to the Shotgun.

We didn’t mean for this outcome, but thank you for your feedback. We aim to clarify the functions of various weapons/abilities better in future previews.

While the Slayer’s Fang can be enjoyable, Bungie recognizes that they should exercise caution when displaying their weaponry in future presentations.

This year’s Festival of the Lost armor for Destiny 2 is worth exploring further, and don’t forget that if you’re a collector of Strange Coins, Xur is receiving an upgrade!
