Armie Hammer Set for Lead Role in Uwe Boll’s Vigilante Thriller ‘The Dark Knight’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Acting career revival for Armie Hammer is gaining momentum following his landing of the lead part in director Uwe Boll’s upcoming movie titled “The Dark Knight.

Actor Hammer will take on the role of the crime-fighting main character in an upcoming vigilante thriller. This film is set to start its main filming in Croatia on January 27th.

A troubled actor, whose career stalled in 2021 due to accusations of sexual misbehavior, has made a comeback by working on the upcoming western “Frontier Crucible” directed by Travis Mills, alongside actors like Thomas Jane and William H. Macy.

In the year 2023, after an extensive investigation, I, as a movie enthusiast, found that the LA prosecutors decided not to press any charges against the actor, concluding their probe without finding him guilty of any criminal act.

Before the accusations arose, Hammer was a prominent figure in films such as “The Lone Ranger” directed by Gore Verbinski, where he starred alongside Johnny Depp, and in Guy Ritchie’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”, where he acted with Henry Cavill. He also appeared in Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me by Your Name” alongside Timothée Chalamet.

Hammer had roles in several well-known movies before the allegations surfaced, including Gore Verbinski’s “The Lone Ranger”, where he worked with Johnny Depp, Guy Ritchie’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”, in which he acted alongside Henry Cavill, and Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me by Your Name” featuring Timothée Chalamet.

Hammer made appearances in high-profile films such as Gore Verbinski’s “The Lone Ranger”, teaming up with Johnny Depp, Guy Ritchie’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”, acting alongside Henry Cavill, and Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me by Your Name” alongside Timothée Chalamet – all before the allegations arose.

In a recent podcast interview, Hammer mentioned that his acting career has become so active that he’s even started to decline offers. He expressed, “My schedule is getting quite packed,” and added, “The first job I declined after four years of this work, it was the most satisfying feeling I’ve ever experienced.

In “The Dark Knight,” Hammer portrays Sanders, a character who decides to pursue criminals personally rather than relying on law enforcement. His vigilante actions make him popular on social media and are viewed as heroic by the public, but the local police chief views him as a dangerous threat to society and plans to stop him.

Discussing ‘The Dark Knight’ story feels particularly relevant now, and I can’t wait to see it unfold with this amazing cast,” stated Boll, who has been working on projects such as the crime drama “First Shift” and the upcoming migrant crisis thriller “Run.

Although the fresh movie shares the same title with a well-known superhero series, executive producer Michael Roesch emphasized that “our film differs significantly from Christopher Nolan’s film, eliminating any possibility of misunderstanding.

Roesch stated, ‘We’re thrilled to announce that Armie Hammer is taking the lead in our upcoming film, with more talented actors joining us shortly. With a fantastic script, we aim to continue the success of ‘First Shift’ and ‘Run.’ We look forward to delivering another powerful movie soon.’

Representatives for Hammer did not immediately respond to EbMaster‘s request for comment.

The film “First Shift,” featuring Gino Anthony Pesi and Kristen Renton, unexpectedly took the second spot on Paramount+’s charts when it premiered in December. On the other hand, “Run,” starring Amanda Plummer (a three-time Emmy and Tony winner), James Russo, Ulrich Thomsen, and Barkhad Abdi (an Oscar nominee), is being managed internationally by UTA Independent Film Group and is currently discussing terms for its release in the United States.

The movie ‘The Dark Knight’ represents Boll’s 37th production. This versatile director has a diverse portfolio that encompasses high-action blockbusters like ‘In the Name of the King’ starring Jason Statham, as well as cult hits such as ‘Postal’ and the ‘Rampage’ series. He also delves into socially relevant themes with films like ‘Attack on Darfur’ and ‘Assault on Wall Street’.

In the production of “The Dark Knight”, both Boll and Roesch serve as executive producers. Notably, Boll works alongside his frequent associates on this project, which includes Director of Photography Mathias Neumann, Line Producer Boris Velican, and Editor Ethan Maniquis.

Tunnel Post in Santa Monica is handling post-production on the feature.
