The upcoming Season 2 of the HBO and Sony Pictures Television series “The Last of Us” is set to debut in April; this was announced by Sony on Monday during their presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas.
During a one-hour press conference, representatives from Sony announced that Columbia Pictures and Sony PlayStation are teaming up to create a movie based on the video game “Horizon Zero Dawn.” Originally planned as a series for Netflix, the project is now being developed into a film. Few specifics about the movie were shared other than the fact that these two Sony divisions are collaborating on this cinematic adaptation, as confirmed by Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions.
Neil Druckmann, head of Naughty Dog’s studio and creative lead, confirmed the release date for “The Last of Us”. During this announcement, he also shared a brief teaser trailer for Season 2 with the audience. This sneak peek provided fans with a quick look at Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller, Bella Ramsey as Ellie Williams, and other significant characters.
A thrilling one-minute preview for the upcoming season was shared on Monday via Max’s YouTube channel, hinting at the events that lie ahead. Remarkably, the teaser subtly confirms April as the month for Season 2, although it does not specify an exact release date.
In the preview, Kaitlyn Dever makes her debut as Abby, a character introduced to the series and significant in the “The Last of Us” video game saga. She states, “It doesn’t make a difference if I have a code like I do,” following a scene where she is seen creeping down a dimly lit corridor with a pistol. “There are certain actions that everyone can agree are simply unacceptable.
Five years on from the incidents of the previous season, I find myself entangled in disputes with Joel and navigating a world that’s become even more treacherous and uncertain compared to what we had left behind.
Additionally, it’s been announced that the third-person shooter game “Helldivers,” created by Arrowhead Games, is being transformed into a feature film. Originally, “Helldivers” was a hit among cooperative gamers in niche circles, but its popularity skyrocketed worldwide when its successor, “Helldivers 2,” was launched in 2024. The sequel is one of the quickest-selling PlayStation games ever, selling an astounding 12 million copies within its first 12 weeks on sale.
