As a long-time fan of Taylor Sheridan’s work and having watched countless episodes of his shows, I find myself intrigued by the character of Cami in Landman. With Demi Moore playing this role, it is hard to ignore her presence, even if she has been underutilized so far. The fact that Monty’s health issues seem to be escalating and Cami has started to take a more active role in the storyline suggests that she may have a larger part to play in the upcoming season.
Having watched Demi Moore in many iconic roles throughout her career, it seems out of character for her to be relegated to swimming in a pool and making juice for Monty. I believe Cami’s rise to power in Season 2 is not only possible but also highly probable.
It’s no secret that Sheridan enjoys creating strong female characters, and having a woman take charge of an oil company on prime-time TV would be a refreshing change. I can already imagine the witty dialogue and powerful performances that will come with Cami stepping up to protect their company from collapsing.
In a hilarious twist, I predict that Monty will eventually suffer a major setback, forcing Cami to take over. And let’s be real – who better to run an oil company than the woman who played the President of the United States in “Indecent Proposal”? After all, when it comes to playing powerful women, Demi Moore is the queen of taking charge!
In the series “Landman,” Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm take the main roles, yet another well-known personality graces the screen, albeit not as frequently.
It’s quite clear that Taylor Sheridan’s portrayal of female characters has been both praised and criticized: most of his shows (such as Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Yellowstone, with the notable exception of the fierce character Beth Dutton) tend to focus on tough male protagonists. Landman is no different in this regard.
In my gaming world, it’s often depicted that the Texas oil scene is dominated by men. But let me tell you, that doesn’t change the fact that there are strong women like my wife Angela and daughter Ainsley who make their mark. These ladies have been under fire in our drama series due to their larger-than-life personalities and a tendency to share too much, causing quite a stir!
Additionally, you’ll find Cami in the series, who is Monty’s spouse. Despite being portrayed by Demi Moore, viewers have been taken aback by the limited screen presence she’s been given over the eight episodes that have aired so far.
Landman fans think Cami will have a bigger role in Season 2
In the early Landman series installments, Moore’s character often takes on a supporting role, preparing juice for Monty or taking a swim in their pool. However, as the episodes progress, she has become more integrated into the storyline, with her most notable scene being the phone call to Tommy in Episode 8.
Following another heart attack, Monty tried to conduct business at the hospital, but Cami swiftly took the phone from him. Subsequently, she instructed Tommy to divert all incoming calls to herself during Monty’s recovery period.
For the first time, Cami has been introduced, sparking speculation among fans as to why she wasn’t used earlier in the series. Yet, Monty’s heart attack may hint at a more significant role for her in future episodes.
One Reddit user remarked, ‘Is Demi under the influence? It’s hard to understand why someone with a name like Demi Moore isn’t utilized more?’ Another question raised was, ‘Given the emphasis on Monty’s health problems and medication, could it be possible that Monty might not make it for Season 2, and will Demi step in instead?’
Since Monty’s health crisis, the theory has gained considerable traction, as viewers anticipate that character Cami may take on a more prominent role in upcoming episodes. In fact, there is a strong likelihood that she will assume the leadership position in Season 2.
Someone suggested that Demi Moore didn’t join the show merely for swimming. They believe she holds the power, possibly has a substantial financial backing, and it’s unlikely Monty will remain in control for much longer.
A third person penned, “It’s plausible that Monty will either perish or become incapacitated, opening the way for Demi to take over the operation. Taylor Sheridan often favors powerful female characters who find themselves in unconventional scenarios. Has a woman ever portrayed the CEO of an oil company on prime-time television before?
Cami is temporarily assuming Monty’s role as he recuperates and is unable to work for a year, during which she must safeguard their business from potential collapse. It seems Monty may have used his influence over Cami’s trust fund to acquire necessary funds.
In Season 2, it’s not surprising that Cami gained influence, given that it was announced earlier this year that she would begin working on the second season.
