At a recent Marvel panel, it was announced that Joshua Williamson and Carmen Carnero will be the creative team behind the new *Iron Man* #1, launching on January 28th. This series marks a fresh start for Tony Stark, focusing on how his plans for the future are corrupted and used to create a dangerous successor. The story promises a battle of intellects, introducing a new major villain, some returning characters, and a surprising character reappearance. Marvel also shared the main cover art, variant designs, character sketches, and a sneak peek at the first issue’s pages.

He’s long been worried about facing death again, and what weapon he’d create to fight it – but even more, what if someone else creates that weapon first? This fear has been building inside him. Now, the villain Madame Masque, backed by the powerful Advanced Idea Mechanics, is determined to answer those same questions and build that weapon herself.
Iron Man Writer Teases New Marvel Comics Story
A new *Iron Man* comic series is launching, bringing back a celebrated writer to Marvel. He expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying he’s a lifelong *Iron Man* fan and felt it was the right time to return to the character. “I absolutely had to do this,” he stated.
One of the central ideas of this book is that Tony Stark himself is the biggest threat. While he created the Iron Man suit in the cave, it wasn’t the armor he truly built—it was a new version of himself.
