Vitality vs. FaZe Match Report | Shanghai Major Results
On the map choice of Nuke by FaZe Clan, Team Vitality held a powerful initial lead on the CT side, with a 8-4 advantage at half-time. One particularly thrilling instance occurred when Lotan “Spinx” Giladi from Vitality achieved a 4K in the 7th round, pushing their score to 7-0 before FaZe Clan managed to stage a comeback.
At the outset of the second half, Team Vitality didn’t slacken significantly, swiftly amassing a 10-5 advantage that intensified the financial strain on FaZe Clan.
In the 16th round, Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s team managed to steady themselves slightly, scoring one point before Team Vitality responded aggressively to lead 11-6. FaZe Clan took a risk with a force buy in the 18th, but this strategy didn’t succeed, causing them to lose their economy. This allowed Team Vitality to win the 19th and secure a commanding 13-6 victory on Nuke.
On Map Mirage, team led by Dan “apEX” Madesclaire had a powerful beginning, claiming the Pistol Round and executing it smoothly. Yet, FaZe Clan snatched the initial rifle round, thereby establishing themselves. In response, Vitality swiftly countered with their own win, creating a scoreline of 3-1 in their favor early on Mirage.
In the game, Vitality increased their advantage to 4-1, but FaZe Clan retaliated strongly in the 6th round, securing a fairly clean victory by losing just one team member. Following this, FaZe made a concerted effort in the 7th round to disrupt Vitality’s financial flow, leading to a situation where Vitality had to play an economy round (eco). FaZe capitalized on this opportunity, tying the game at 4-4.
I, Robin “ropz” Kool, kept delivering strong performances for FaZe Clan, consistently landing those crucial early picks as we pushed our lead to 6-4 on the CT side of Mirage. With the switch to T-side, it was a tight game at 7-5 in favor of us, FaZe Clan, with the CT advantage on Mirage.
On the “T” side of Mirage, FaZe Clan secured the first round with the pistol, then proceeded to convert it. Following this, Team Vitality responded by scoring three consecutive rounds, giving them a lead of 9-8 over FaZe.
In a pivotal gunfight (round number 18), I, as part of FaZe Clan, was the one who took center stage, racking up three enemy takedowns and sealing the deal to give us a 10-8 advantage over our opponents.
As a diehard fan, I couldn’t help but cheer when FaZe Clan showed their dominance in the 19th round, nailing two swift kills to force Vitality into a save. They repeated this strategy in the 20th round, pushing themselves to match point with a 12-8 score. With a chilling 3K from a frozen spot, FaZe Clan clinched victory on Mirage, ending the game with a resounding 13-8 scoreline. This set us up for an exciting third and final map, Anubis.
In the opening stages of Anubis, Vitality swiftly secured two points after grabbing the Pistol Round on the attacking side (T side), taking a quick 2-0 lead against an opponent who was starting with a full economic disadvantage (full eco). They then extended their advantage to 3-0 before FaZe Clan managed to win three consecutive rounds, leveling the score.
In the heat of the match on Anubis, I managed to secure a stunning 3K from ropz in the 8th round, giving us FaZe Clan a stronger foothold at 5-3. We then disrupted Vitality’s economy in the 9th round and capitalized on an eco of our own, pushing the score to a more comfortable 7-3 in our favor. As we approached halftime, we held a solid lead with a score of 8-4, putting us in a commanding position for the second half.
During the switch of positions, FaZe Clan, now on the attacking side (T), built up considerable momentum and seized the initial Pistol round. They followed this with two more rounds, extending their lead to a formidable 11-4 before Vitality managed to secure their first round on the defensive side (CT).
Team Vitality managed to win several rounds successively, with outstanding performances from “The Chosen One,” Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, who secured a stunning three-kill in the sixteenth round, keeping them in the game. However, despite Vitality’s valiant attempts, FaZe Clan moved closer to victory with a 12-7 scoreline.
FaZe Clan finished off Team Vitality with a 13-7 on Anubis, completing the reverse sweep with a 2-1 score and shocking the crowd.
Kudos to FaZe Clan for clinching their Quarterfinal victory against Team Vitality at the Perfect World Shanghai Major. This triumph advances them to the next round where they’ll square off against G2 Esports during the second Semifinal match on 14 December 2024, with a chance to reach the grand finale!
