Harris Dickinson Plays Coy About Starring as John Lennon in Sam Mendes’ Beatles Biopics: ‘It Would Be Amazing to Do That’

As a lifelong Beatles enthusiast with a soft spot for British cinema, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of Harris Dickinson stepping into the shoes of John Lennon in Sam Mendes’ upcoming biopic series. With his captivating performances and undeniable charm, he seems like the perfect choice to portray one of the most iconic figures in rock ‘n roll history.

As soon as it became known that Sam Mendes would be directing, whispers started circulating about which actors might portray the Beatles in Sony Picture’s upcoming four-part biographical series about the famous band, the Fab Four.

Starting from Wednesday, it appears that Paul Mescal might play the role of Paul McCartney, with Barry Keoghan set for Ringo Starr (as confirmed by Starr himself). Charlie Rowe is just a rumor as the possible choice for George Harrison, while Harris Dickinson is whispered to be linked to John Lennon.

Yet, when I enquired about the cast selection during Wednesday’s premiere of his latest erotic thriller “Babygirl,” Dickinson remained somewhat secretive.

He expressed enthusiasm, flashing a smile. “Imagine if Sam collaborated on something like this,” he mused. “It’d be electrifying! Taking on the character of John Lennon is a challenging endeavor, no doubt, but it sounds intriguing.

When I enquired whether he had agreed to work on the project, Dickinson chuckled and replied “time will tell,” before being escorted off to his following interview on the red carpet.

It’s been verified that Mescal is set to join the Beatles project, following an earlier discussion between EbMaster and directors Ridley Scott (of “Gladiator II”) and Christopher Nolan at the DGA in Los Angeles. However, it should be noted that Mescal has not yet officially agreed to the role.

Each movie in our set of four will spotlight a unique band member, with plans for a theatrical debut for all.

Starr accidentally revealed that the Keoghan actor was learning drums when he casually mentioned, “I believe he’s somewhere practicing his drum skills, and I just hope he’s not overdoing it.

Currently, Dickinson is featured in Steve McQueen’s World War II drama titled “Blitz,” co-starring Saoirse Ronan. The film “Babygirl,” directed by Halina Reijn and where he portrays an intern who has an affair with the tech company’s CEO (played by Nicole Kidman), will hit theaters on December 25th.

In their first directorial venture, Dickinson teams up with Archie Pearch under their production company, Devisio Pictures, to bring us “Dream Space,” a movie that tackles the challenging themes of homelessness and mental health.
