Developers will fix Drop rate in PoE 2, as fans are not happy about it

As a hardcore fan of Path of Exile since its inception, I can confidently say that the release of Path of Exile 2 has been nothing short of exhilarating! This game has not only reignited my passion for the hack’n’slash genre but has also sent shockwaves through Steam, dethroning its predecessor and giving Diablo IV a run for its money.

Following a significant delay, Path of Exile 2 was finally unveiled, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. It has not only spiked in popularity on Steam, climbing to the peak activity-wise and outshining its predecessor significantly (according to SteamDB), but also sent ripples through the hack’n’slash genre as a whole, giving Diablo IV a run for its money. Even though the game is still in Early Access, it has garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback, although this doesn’t suggest that the game is without flaws. On the contrary – there are numerous aspects that require attention, and the developers are actively addressing these issues based on player feedback. One of the primary concerns is the drop rate, which plays a crucial role in the experience of PoE 2.

Drop rates fix in PoE 2 explained

In games like Path of Exile 2, where items play a crucial role, finding the perfect balance between a well-tuned game and one that’s frustratingly unbalanced can be tricky. This is due to factors such as skill and power distribution, weapon adjustments, class changes, and drop rates. The developers at Grinding Gear Games understand that players are not satisfied with the item drop rates in their recent release. As a result, they’ve made efforts to address this issue.

To address the concerns shared by the fans, GGG is doing their best to tinker with some drop mechanics. There are changes introduced regarding rare monsters consisting of doubling rarity bonus for rare mods. Also, a 10% Quantity bonus was added per rare mod. To compliment that, the chances of rare monsters having more modifiers in the endgame have been increased.

In addition, a new feature called “Unlucky Drop Protection” has been implemented. This ensures that less than half of the loot obtained from unique monsters will consist of gold. To make it clearer, it’s now certain that both Act Bosses and Map Bosses will always drop at least one rare item.

Changes to the item drops in PoE 2 are ongoing and we anticipate even more adjustments in the future. If you’re curious about the latest updates, be sure to check out the official thread that the developers have provided for further details.
