This War Of Mine Marks 10th Anniversary With New Charity DLC

As a passionate gamer and advocate for social justice causes, I can’t help but be moved by the heart-wrenching narrative of This War of Mine: Forget Celebrations. Having played the original game several times, it was a poignant experience to return to the war-torn city of Pogoren, this time through the eyes of Katia, a character whose resilience and determination are truly inspiring.

In 2014, the game developer 11 Bit Studios introduced This War of Mine, a war game that bucked traditional genre norms by allowing players to assume the role of struggling characters whose sole objective was survival. To commemorate the game’s 10th anniversary, 11 Bit Studios is welcoming players back with a fresh DLC called “Forget Celebrations,” which aims to raise funds for various charities.

I can hardly contain my excitement! On December 11th, “This War of Mine: Forget Celebrations” will debut on Steam, and as a fan, it’s not just a game for me – it’s an opportunity to make a difference. All proceeds from this DLC will be donated to War Child, Amnesty International, Liberty Ukraine, and the Indie Games Poland Foundation, organizations that work tirelessly to support those affected by war.

In a devastating turn of events, the city of Pogoren experiences a missile strike, gravely wounding Katia. As she fights to stay alive until rescue arrives, Katia faces tough decisions. Moreover, she must locate and secure her misplaced literary materials before they vanish permanently amidst the chaos of war, along with the tales they embody.

11 Bit Studios has previously mobilized players for a worthy cause using This War of Mine. In 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, they collected funds for the Ukrainian Red Cross to aid those affected by the conflict. Two years prior, in 2020, This War of Mine was integrated into Polish school curricula. And just last year, This War of Mine became a permanent fixture in the collection of video games at the Museum of Modern Art.
