Moonlit Fruit is one of the earlier mutations you can unlock in Grow A Garden, and it’s fairly simple to get if you know the trick. While it doesn’t drastically increase a fruit’s value on its own – it just doubles it – fruits can often gain multiple mutations at once. This means when paired with valuable plants and strong mutations like Celestial or Sundried, Moonlit Fruit can significantly boost your earnings.
When the music shifts to either Debussy’s Clair de Lune or Satie’s Gymnopédie No. 1, a special weather condition called ‘Grow A Garden’ appears at a predictable time. Certain items can redirect the moonlight to plants and pets that don’t normally need it to develop the ‘Grow A Garden’ trait. Here’s how you can obtain Moonlit Fruit.
How to get the Grow A Garden Moonlit mutation
The simplest way to give your plants the Grow A Garden Moonlit mutation is to wait for nighttime or when you see Shooting Stars. Nighttime happens six times daily: 8:30 PM, 12:30 AM, 4:30 AM, 8:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 4:30 PM Eastern Time. If you’re playing on Pacific Time, those times are 5:30 PM, 9:30 PM, 1:30 AM, 5:30 AM, 9:30 AM, and 1:30 PM.
Okay, so here’s the deal with the Cosmetic Shop – this happens about 30 minutes after each restock. If you’re trying to time something, that’s when you need to start watching it. Also, the night cycle can be random, so if you don’t get the *specific* night weather you need, you’ll have to wait for the next one. When it *does* hit, it’s awesome – you can get up to six plants with the moonlit mutation every two minutes, but it only lasts for ten minutes, so you gotta be quick!
If you want a specific fruit to gain the Moonlit mutation, position a Night Staff nearby. Alternatively, the Tanuki and Wolf Grow A Garden pets can also cause this mutation. While the Tanuki might sometimes give your plants a Chilled or Choc mutation instead, the Wolf will always guarantee the Moonlit mutation.
Grow A Garden Night Cycle variants
You can experience several weather effects simultaneously, like rain and wind. However, only one nighttime weather event will happen at a time. This includes events like the Meteor Shower, which can give plants the Celestial trait, and the Blood Moon, which gives them the Bloodlit trait. The Night Staff can influence where the Bloodlit trait appears, and the Star Caller can affect meteors during a shower, working in a similar way.
