Reed Birney and Kieron Moore will take leading roles in “Blue Film,” an intriguing independent movie about a Cambodian fetishist named character, who consents to spend one night with an unidentified client, yet uncovers a chilling connection to his past. The film is the first full-length work of writer and director Elliot Tuttle. It concluded filming this year and aspires to premiere on the early 2025 film festival circuit.
Birney is an acclaimed stage and screen actor. He won a Tony and numerous other awards and nominations for plays including “The Humans,” “Casa Valentina,” and “Man From Nebraska.” On television, he can be seen in the most recent season of “American Horror Story”. He was also recently on Peacock’s “Poker Face”, and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.” Other TV credits include HBO’s “Succession” and Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale.” He is also well known for his performance as Vice President Donald Blythe in the Netflix series “House of Cards.” In film, Birney received a Gotham Award nomination for his performance in “Mass” and also appeared in “The Menu” and “The Hunt.” He will next be seen in the second chapter of Kevin Costner’s “Horizon.”
Actor Tobias Menzies, known for his role in “Vampire Academy” on Peacock, has also been seen with Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan in “Masters of the Air,” streaming on Apple TV+. Additionally, he starred in the third season of Netflix’s “Sex Education.” Currently, Menzies finished a series regular role for the upcoming Netflix series “Corps” and is now filming the BritBox/ITV series titled “Code of Silence.
In the film industry, Mark Duplass, one of its consulting producers, has acted as a mentor to Tuttle. Prior to this, he had executive produced Tuttle’s podcast series titled “Lina’s Song,” which featured Hari Nef and Dylan Gelula. The main focus of Tuttle’s work is the exploration of transgressive sexuality.
Blue Film” is Fusion Entertainment’s next project following their 2024 release “Between The Temples,” which earned Carol Kane the Best Supporting Actress award at the N.Y. Film Critics’ Circle Awards. The film is produced by Bijan Kazerooni, Will Youmans, Adam Kersh, and Waylon Sall.
