As a movie enthusiast with a penchant for unconventional narratives and a soft spot for dark comedy, I am absolutely thrilled about “The Saviors.” The stellar cast led by Adam Scott and Danielle Deadwyler, coupled with the intriguing premise of a suburban couple’s life taking an unexpected turn, promises an engaging ride.
Adam Scott and Danielle Deadwyler will headline “The Saviors,” a witty yet chilling thriller that follows a suburban couple whose lives take an unexpected turn when they rent their garage to enigmatic new tenants. Filming is underway in Los Angeles, with Kevin Hamedani at the helm as director. He co-wrote the script with Travis Betz; this script was highlighted on the 2018 Blacklist.
Matt Smith and Dan Gedman from Highway 10 are in charge of funding and creating the movie titled “The Saviors”. This is their debut project under their recently established production company. Furthermore, Adam Scott and Naomi Scott will produce for Great Scott Productions, Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza for Invention Studios, and Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant for Amasia Entertainment. Deadwyler, Alyssa Roehrenbeck, and Josh Sathre are set to serve as executive producers.
In the second season of Apple TV+’s “Severance,” you’ll find Scott making an appearance, as he not only stars in it but also serves as executive producer. His remarkable performance garnered him nominations for several prestigious awards such as the Emmy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Golden Globe, Film Independent Spirit Award, and Critics Choice Award. Alongside Ben Stiller and Adam Scott, he will co-host “The Severance Podcast,” a companion piece to the upcoming second season produced through Great Scott Productions. Furthermore, Scott is set to star in, direct, and produce his first feature film, “Double Booked,” alongside Sterling K. Brown, Zazie Beetz, and Alexandra Daddario, also under the banner of Great Scott Productions. Previously, he has been part of popular shows like “Parks & Recreation,” “Step Brothers,” and “Party Down.
At the moment, Deadwyler is receiving praise and award consideration for her performance in “The Piano Lesson” on Netflix. Following this, she will make an appearance in the upcoming thriller “Carry-On,” set to premiere on Netflix in December. Previously, Deadwyler has appeared in “Till,” “Station Eleven,” and “The Harder They Fall.
As a movie critic, I’ve had the privilege to delve into some intriguing projects. Most recently, I tackled “Infidel,” a chilling horror masterpiece adapted by the dynamic duo, Hamedani and Betz, for TriStar Pictures. Their impressive resumé includes the adaptation of another captivating tale, the YA novel “Darius the Great Is Not OK,” for Universal.
Smith and Gedman expressed that Kevin and Travis’ outstanding screenplay represents the kind of movie we strive to produce at Highway 10: a gripping mystery infused with relevant topics and unexpected wit. They were deeply invested in ‘The Saviors’ being our inaugural production as a company. They also mentioned that Adam and Danielle, who are exceptionally talented actors, will be spearheading this daring and thought-provoking film, which we are eagerly anticipating.
For over seven years now, Invention has been unreservedly proud to work on ‘The Saviors’ alongside Kevin and Travis, his co-writer. Despite the lengthy journey, we can’t say we’re ashamed. Recently, a fantastic cast has joined us, making our persistence seem less extraordinary. This movie, which embodies the best of boldness, takes time, energy, and tenacity – qualities especially needed in today’s uncertain times. We are overjoyed to witness such an audacious and amazing film come to fruition thanks to Adam, Danielle, and their incredible creative team.
Adam Scott and Naomi Scott are thrilled beyond measure to commence work on this extraordinary, captivating film alongside Danielle Deadwyler and innovative director Kevin Hamedani. The perspective that Kevin brings to the table is absolutely distinctive, and we can hardly contain our eagerness to unveil it to cinema-goers worldwide.
Hamedani and Betz are represented by Ryan Saul, Geoff Silverman at Cartel, as well as IAG. Additionally, Ryan Saul will co-produce the film “The Saviors.” The deal for this movie was negotiated by Eric Feig on behalf of Hamedani, and Joel VanderKloot on behalf of Betz. Global sales for “The Saviors” will be managed by CAA and UTA.
