As a long-time fan of the Masked Singer, I must say that this season has been nothing short of extraordinary! Each performance, filled with mystery and intrigue, keeps me on the edge of my seat. Among all the contestants, the stories behind the Buffalos truly touched my heart. Their journey from friends to brothers, overcoming obstacles, and finding strength in their bond is a testament to the power of family.
SPOILER ALERT: Details follow for Season 12, Episode 10 of “The Masked Singer,” “Quarter Finals: Merging of the Masks,” which aired Wednesday, December 4 on Fox.
Regrettably, Kobie Turner from the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive line didn’t quite meet the mark for “The Masked Singer” semi-finals. On the latest episode, it was revealed that he was Goo under the mask, following a close contest with Strawberry Shortcake where he ultimately fell short.
In this instance, Goo found himself up for elimination again – he had been spared during the Group B finals previously. However, during the Season 12 Quarter Finals, unfortunately, his luck ran out.
Goo, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg paired up with Kobie Turner, while Robin Thicke chose another L.A. Ram named Aaron Donald. Ken Jeong confirmed it was Shaquille O’Neal, and Rita Ora believed it to be John Cena.
Previously, Goo’s identity (prior to the hint that revealed he wasn’t a professional singer) had Rita Ora guessing him as Anthony Hamilton, Ken Jeong suggesting Brian McKnight, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg choosing Johnny Gill, and Robin Thicke believing it was Leon Bridges.
Wasps and Buffalos received the most votes in the Quarter Finals, advancing them straight to the semifinals. This set up a battle for the final spot between Goo and Strawberry Shortcake. Goo performed “Hold On, I’m Comin'” by Sam & Dave, while Strawberry Shortcake sang “Scars To Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara. In the end, it was Strawberry Shortcake who advanced, with Goo being eliminated from the competition.
Goo/Turner expressed great excitement about staying involved in the contest, saying, ‘I was deeply touched by the opportunity.’ Beforehand, he sang ‘Iris’ by the fitting band, the Goo Goo Dolls.
It’s been truly heartening to listen to the panelists’ thoughts. You see, I don’t make a living from this, but I have two dreams: singing and what many know me as in reality. People said I couldn’t do both, but I never faltered. Being here has been an incredible experience, a chance to explore my other passion. Who knows what the future holds? But with a step towards the semifinals, especially with my fiancé by my side, it proves that you can chase two dreams. Tonight, even behind this mask, I hope everyone gets to see me for who I truly am.
Now it’s just Wasp, Strawberry Shortcake, and the Buffalo teams who will face off in the upcoming semi-final round next week.
As a movie aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that Kobie Turner revealed herself as Goo, joining Jana Kramer in her role as Royal Knight, Bronson Arroyo transformed into Sherlock Hound, Drake Bell donned the Ice King costume, Bethany Hamilton charmed us as Macaron, Natalie Imbruglia took on the character Bluebell, Laverne Cox captivated us as Chess Piece, Andy Richter emerged as Dusty Bunny, Paula Cole graced the stage as Ship, Marsai Martin brought Woodpecker to life, Yvette Nicole Brown enchanted us as Showbird, and John Elway took on the role of Leaf Sheep in the unmasking ceremony of “The Masked Singer” Season 12.
For Season 12, Nick Cannon is back as the host, joined by returning panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Robin Thicke. Additionally, Ora continues her stint at the desk, standing in for Nicole Scherzinger for a second season.
Season 12 of ‘The Masked Singer’ features special episodes celebrating milestones such as Barbie’s 65th anniversary, the 40th anniversary of ‘Footloose’, an episode dedicated to Miley Cyrus’ music, a ‘Who Are You Fest’ showcasing hits from iconic festival lineups, a ‘Sports Night’ and a ’60’s Night’. Returning themes include ‘Soundtrack of My Life’ and ‘Thanksgiving Night’. Additionally, we have ‘Miley Cyrus Night’ and the new ‘Who Are You Fest’.
This season, clues will be cleverly woven into costumes, song selections, and key performance moments. Moreover, fifteen famous contestants will receive endorsements from a “Celebrity Masked Advisor,” comprising past participants such as Dick Van Dyke (Season 9’s Gnome), Jewel (Season 6 champion as the Queen of Hearts), Ne-yo (Season 10 winner as the Cow), and DeMarcus Ware (Season 11’s Koala). Additionally, the “Ding Dong Keep It On” bell is making a comeback for the group finals, but only one singer from each group can be granted a reprieve.
Season 12 showcases a group of fifteen performers donning fresh attires such as “Ship,” “Leafy Sheep,” “Wooden Pecker,” “Chess Piece,” “Blue Flower,” “Buffalo,” “Show Bird,” “Cotton Ball,” “Gooey Stuff,” “Strawberry Dessert,” “Waspy Creature,” “Detective Dog,” “Noble Knight,” “Frozen Monarch,” and “Macaron.

“I was deeply touched to continue in the contest. Hearing the panel’s feedback has been incredibly significant. Participating here has been an incredible journey, a trial run of my other passion. Who knows what the future holds? For most of my life, I’ve been part of a group, something I cherish dearly. But this time around, I’ve stepped out on my own – something I haven’t done before. The Masked Singer came at just the right moment. My friends and family were embarking on new adventures, so I thought, why not seize the opportunity? With each round, I’m unearthing hidden qualities within myself – the bold, the playful, and the quirky. This journey is revealing my untapped potential to me. But years ago, something tragic happened to one of us that disrupted the harmony we had built. Everything we accomplished together was called off. We thought our journey was over.
