As a long-time viewer and admirer of “The View”, I must say that the dynamic between the hosts and their guests has always been one of the show’s most intriguing aspects. The latest debate between Charlamagne Tha God and Whoopi Goldberg, however, took it to a whole new level.
On the December 4th episode of “The View,” Charlamagne Tha God discussed an argument with co-host Whoopi Goldberg regarding a statement he made about President Joe Biden allegedly lying when it came to pardoning his son, Hunter Biden, for felony gun and tax offenses. Previously, the president had stated that he would not grant such clemency to his own family members. (Source: Entertainment Weekly)
Goldberg said to Charlamagne, “I need to interrupt for a moment. The reason is because you’re not aware that it was a falsehood.” He continued, “We don’t know why he decided to change his stance. However, this is my personal opinion. I believe he changed his mind because he grew tired of seeing others succeed. Eventually, one reaches a point where they think, ‘I’m just going to stick to the right path all the time, as that’s what Democrats are expected to do.’
Charlamagne retorted, “That’s on them! They are the ones who step up onto a self-righteous pedestal, they aren’t obligated to act like that.
Goldberg said, “Is it because he granted a pardon to Hunter Biden that we’re upset with him?” To this, Charlamagne replied, “I’m not angry at him for pardoning Hunter Biden. It seems like you are the one who is angry!
Could you help me understand why people gasp or show surprise when President Joe Biden takes an action?” Goldberg questioned later, following co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin’s intervention in the discussion, who remarked that Biden had earlier emphasized his commitment to institutions of integrity before granting a pardon to Hunter.
I’ve been more critical of Donald Trump than anyone, including Charlamagne Tha God,” Griffin stated in response.
Goldberg acknowledged he’s been more critical, but let me clarify what I meant. What is it that triggers such intense reactions towards Joe, while similar behaviors from Trump don’t seem to provoke the same response?
As a follower, I found myself pondering over a query I’d like to pose to Goldberg: “Why does it seem challenging for you to acknowledge when the Democratic party errs, and similarly, why do Republicans appear reluctant to admit mistakes within their own ranks? Don’t you believe that Joe Biden may have made some errors?
When Goldberg stated she hadn’t done something, Charlamagne responded by calling it “absurd.” To which Goldberg retorted, “No, you’re the absurd one.
The radio host clarified, “I didn’t call you ridiculous, Ms. Goldberg – I wouldn’t do that. Instead, what I meant was that idea is just silly.” After this, Goldberg asked him to approach her for a kiss, but instead they ended up hugging and easing the tension between them.
On various occasions, Charlamagne Tha God has faced confrontational situations when appearing on “The View.” During a May episode of this daytime talk show, he openly criticized the hosts for pushing guests to support political candidates during interviews. At that time, Sunny Hostin took issue with Charlamagne for not publicly endorsing Joe Biden.
