As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Marvel-centric gaming under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series has me both excited and intrigued. Having grown up watching the original Daredevil series on Netflix, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia knowing that we’re finally getting a reboot on Disney+.
In anticipation of fresh updates on Daredevil: Born Again, a star has now clarified the precise timeline for the upcoming series.
After quite some wait, the revival of the cherished Marvel series, Daredevil, is finally here. Initially launched on Netflix, Daredevil has now decided to transition to Disney+, joining the ranks of other superhero shows available there.
After facing significant creative challenges that required a complete overhaul, the journey turned out to be quite rocky. But now, it appears that everything is falling into place once more. The new installment of Daredevil, titled “Daredevil: Born Again,” is set to premiere on March 4, 2025.
Until then, there’s plenty of hype to go around. And, thanks to Wilson Bethel, who played Bullseye in the original show, we now know when Born Again takes place in the Daredevil timeline.
Born Again will take place 5 years after Daredevil show
Speaking at the Fan Expo San Francisco, Bethel confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again will begin five years after where Daredevil left off.
There’s a significant gap between where the original series concluded and this new one, requiring viewers to catch up on all the happenings that occurred during that period. From an actor’s standpoint, Bethel discussed how the time leap afforded him more flexibility in portraying Bullseye’s character.
He mentioned that one intriguing aspect is possibly unique to sitcoms, but when you’re involved with a series for an extended duration and the characters grow older simultaneously, as if in real life. (This quote is paraphrased from Collider.)
If a show has good writing that reflects current events, and if the writers adjust their characters accordingly, such as changes in hairstyle, among other things, then it’s possible for those characters to seem like they are growing and developing, even when the show isn’t currently being broadcast.
In a somewhat unique twist, after a span of five years, the series “Born Again” resumes, taking into account the elapsed time. Unlike continuing from where we left off, the story unfolds five years later.
In essence, these are figures who’ve experienced a span of five years in their lives, complete with every curveball and surprise along the way.
In essence, it doesn’t matter if those tales are actually depicted on-screen or not. However, there’s something more alive about them that, as an actor, I believe provides you with a chance to incorporate your personal experiences from that period into your performance, making the characters seem more seasoned.
In the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again,” we can expect the character Bethel to make another appearance, having previously portrayed Bullseye/Benjamin Poindexter in Season 3. Initially, Bullseye functioned as Daredevil’s adversary, adorning a duplicate of his suit and damaging his reputation by committing illegal deeds.
However, by the end of his run, he’d been turned against Kingpin and suffered a broken back.
In case you didn’t know, the new season of Daredevil: Born Again will make its debut on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
