As a dedicated follower of the Hollywood scene and someone who’s had the privilege to witness the transformation of talents, I can confidently say that Olivia Wilde is not just an actress but a thoughtful and generous soul. Her anecdote about gifting Charli XCX a mug filled with cigarettes and roses might seem quirky, but it’s this kind of playful camaraderie that makes the industry endearing.
In Gregg Araki’s film “I Want Your Sex,” Olivia Wilde didn’t share any screen time with Charli XCX. But, Charli XCX was given a playful present by Olivia Wilde nonetheless.
Wilde shared with me on Tuesday at the Baby2Baby Holiday Event in Los Angeles’ BMO Stadium that he had left an item on her chair, as he anticipated her arrival immediately following his own. He had thoughtfully selected a Bella Freud mug with the phrase “Hello, Cunty” for her, filled it with her preferred cigarettes and added a rose to the center. She seemed delighted by the gesture, carrying it around with her afterward.
In ‘I Want Your Sex’, Wilde portrays a flamboyant character from the art world who persuades a young man named Elliot, played by Cooper Hoffman, to serve as her sexual inspiration. Initially, this seems intriguing for the budding artist, but it quickly becomes a harrowing downward spiral. As for Charli’s role, specifics have been kept confidential.
Wilde expressed her admiration for Araki, stating, “He’s truly remarkable! Unique and genuine – he’s nothing like Hollywood. He is a filmmaker with true passion and purpose. In the best sense, he’s an extraordinary individual. His work has inspired me deeply, reminding me of why I love this art form.
Earlier, Wilde conveyed to EbMaster that she had viewed Charli’s audition video. Impressed by it, Wilde expressed, “I texted her, ‘Without a doubt, you’re an exceptional actress as well.’
Gregg Araki’s film ‘I Want Your Sex’ completed its main shoot in late October. Here’s to the fantastic director, talented Cooper Hoffman, the amazing cast, and our exceptional team for wrapping up this exhilarating project. I’m so proud of you all ♥️,” Wilde wrote alongside a set photo at the time.
Wilde has been a dedicated backer of Baby2Baby for quite some time, an organization that aids children in poverty across America by offering them essentials like diapers, formula, clothes, and necessary items. Recently, approximately 500 Los Angeles elementary school students from first through third grade were invited to a holiday gathering. This event included the distribution of brand-new toys and clothing, as well as some fun time playing on the BMO soccer field. Wilde assisted in choosing toys for these kids.
One unique aspect that truly sets this organization apart is that these children aren’t receiving hand-me-down items. Instead, they are offered a wide variety of brand new items to choose from, all their own. Their faces light up with joy at the array of options. They have the freedom to make their own decisions. It’s not simply about receiving something. It’s about giving them a bag and saying, “It’s your choice,” and inquiring about their preferences. The toys available span from educational LEGO sets for space exploration and car construction to Barbie merchandise. I find the experience of watching each child ponder, “What am I interested in?”, and then make that selection, truly heartwarming.
