‘Snow White’ Trailer: Rachel Zegler Meets the Seven Dwarfs, Defies the Evil Queen and Showcases Her Singing

As a cinephile who has witnessed the evolution of storytelling and character portrayals over the years, I must say that I am genuinely intrigued by this upcoming live-action remake of “Snow White.” Rachel Zegler’s journey from a breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” to the titular character in Disney’s “Snow White” is nothing short of inspiring. Her vocal prowess and acting chops will undoubtedly breathe new life into this classic tale.

The brand-new trailer for Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of “Snow White” is now available, offering glimpses of Rachel Zegler’s voice, the seven little people who are the dwarfs, and Gal Gadot in her wicked portrayal as the malevolent queen.

The movie is helmed by Marc Webb (known for “500 Days of Summer” and “The Amazing Spider-Man”) and represents Disney’s latest retelling. It continues the tale of Snow White, first introduced in the 1937 animated film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” In this updated version, Snow White is pursued by her own wicked stepmother, the queen, who orders her assassination. Fleeing into a forest, she stumbles upon the enchantment of the seven dwarfs in their home.

Following her successful debut in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story,” Zegler makes a comeback to showcase her vocal prowess on the silver screen. Gadot takes on the role of the wicked queen, sharing the screen with Andrew Burnap, Martin Klebba, and Ansu Kabia. The script for this production is penned by Greta Gerwig, known for “Barbie,” and Erin Cressida Wilson, renowned for “The Girl on the Train.

For quite some time now, this movie has stirred up a lot of debate among viewers and critics alike. Back in January 2022, I, along with many others, found myself taking notice when Peter Dinklage spoke out against the film’s portrayal of dwarfs. Disney quickly followed up with a promise to engage with the community on this important issue. More recently, however, I’ve been caught in the crossfire after expressing my own concerns about the initial storyline, which seemed overly focused on Snow White finding love. This has sparked criticism from certain conservative groups.

In an article for EbMaster, Zegler mentioned that the romantic aspect is crucial to the story. Many had assumed we weren’t focusing on that plotline anymore, but as he clarified, we had always been working on it; it was simply not the topic of discussion on that particular day.

The film is set to release in theaters March 21, 2025. Watch the trailer below.
