Destiny 2 finally has an IKELOS SMG successor after two years of waiting

As a seasoned Destiny 2 gamer with countless hours spent grinding for the perfect weapons and mastering the intricacies of each subclass, I can confidently say that the arrival of Noxious Vetiver has been a game-changer. The IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.3 had held the crown for too long, but this newcomer from Revenant Act 2 has proven its worth and earned my respect.

For quite some time now, the IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.3 has held the title of the top Arc submachine gun in Destiny 2. However, two years following its rerelease, a fresh contender has emerged and claimed the throne.

In the second act of The Revenant, the new weapon called Noxious Vetiver was introduced. This firearm has rapidly become essential due to its exclusive ability combo, which no other Submachine Gun can match.

As a gamer, if you’re curious about leveling up your game, I’d suggest delving into the seasonal activities of Episode Revenant. The best strategy I’ve found for farming Noxious Vetiver is by venturing into the Tomb of Elders, all while carrying a Tonic of Noxious Vetiver with you. Keep an eye out for this god roll as you farm and complete this activity – it’s quite the game-changer!

Noxious Vetiver god roll – Meta analysis

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: Tactical Mag
  • Perk 1: Attrition Orbs
  • Perk 2: Jolting Feedback
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed

Jolting Feedback is one of the most powerful perks in PvE, as it functions a lot like Voltshot but without the need to reload. Simply fire away, and after landing 13 shots, you’ll Jolt any nearby enemies, wiping out adds and debuffing affected combatants.

This complements Attrition Orbs beautifully, because this utility feature generates Orbs of Power when you hit targets, offering ability energy and activating useful bonuses like Weapon Surges and Kickstarts. What’s more, the extra strikes from Jolt will trigger Attrition Orbs, allowing you to continually activate this feature and generate numerous orbs for your team.

Regrettably, while Noxious Vetiver boasts impressive abilities, it’s let down by its weak statistics, with its reload speed being a significant issue. To compensate for its low stats, it would be best to seek a version equipped with Tactical Mag and Reload Speed as a masterwork.

You can pair this with the Tactical Weapon Mod to reduce Noxious Vetiver’s reload time to an astonishingly fast 2.0 seconds. If that speed isn’t sufficient, think about incorporating one or two Arc Loader armor mods to significantly boost your reloading speed.

Something else to be aware of is that Precision Frame submachine guns are not performing too well in the current meta, so this weapon can struggle in high-end activities like GM Nightfalls. However, in most other content it will work perfectly fine and be a great option for Arc builds.
