CoD leaker claims Call of Duty 2027 isn’t another Modern Warfare sequel

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Call of Duty under my belt, I must admit that the prospect of Sledgehammer Games helming Call of Duty 2027 has piqued my interest. The crew at Sledgehammer has shown their mettle in the past with titles like Advanced Warfare and Modern Warfare 3, so I’m excited to see what they come up with next.

Reportedly, it’s said that Sledgehammer Games could be the developers for the Call of Duty 2027 game, and this upcoming title is rumored not to be a continuation of the Modern Warfare series.

For over a decade now, the team at Sledgehammer Games has taken charge of creating five Call of Duty games following their initial work on Modern Warfare 3 in 2011 – Advanced Warfare, WWII, Vanguard, and the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 in 2023.

In light of the release of Black Ops 6, there’s growing uncertainty about the direction Call of Duty (CoD) will take next, given rumors that Microsoft may start making decisions collectively instead of individually in the future.

According to TheGhostOfHope, a source who leaked information about Call of Duty, it appears that Sledgehammer Games might be in charge of the next installment of the first-person shooter series, which is expected to release in 2027.

It appears that Infinity Ward is likely to release Modern Warfare 4 in 2026, but there won’t be another Modern Warfare title following it, as was the case with the consecutive releases in 2022 and 2023.

Based on information from the source, it’s unclear whether Sledgehammer’s next project will be Advanced Warfare 2 or another game entirely.

As a gamer, I gotta say, the info’s still up in the air, so for now, let’s approach it with a bit of skepticism and not take everything at face value.

Significantly, Sledgehammer Games had initially developed a concept for Advanced Warfare 2 but subsequently shifted their focus towards World War II projects, consequently leaving the future series unfinished.
