Activision Bans Thousands Of Black Ops 6 Ranked Players, But Some Say It’s Not Enough

As a long-time Call of Duty enthusiast with countless hours spent in virtual battlefields, I can’t help but feel a mix of frustration and amusement as I follow the ongoing saga of Black Ops 6‘s Ranked playlist. On one hand, it’s heartening to see Activision taking a firm stance against cheaters, banning thousands of accounts daily. However, as a streamer who has personally encountered numerous cheaters in my games, I can’t help but question the effectiveness of these measures.

Activision has addressed the worries about the Ranked mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, focusing on the strategies implemented to combat cheaters. The company claims they’ve banned a large number of players and continue to ban more hourly, but some prominent streamers have expressed persistent concerns.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been thrilled to see that the AI-driven features in Call of Duty’s anti-cheat system, Ricochet, are consistently getting better. They’re fine-tuning the code to speed up the process of dealing with cheaters, and it’s working! Since Ranked play started a week ago, over 19,000 players have been banned, and Ricochet is conducting regular sweeps every hour to boot even more cheaters out. It’s great to see a fair gaming environment being maintained for all of us!

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve long understood that Activision consistently emphasizes their unending struggle against cheaters, a war they claim might never fully end. However, popular streamer Nadeshot sees this as nothing more than a propagandistic stance when viewed from his perspective.

He stated that at least ten names appear on the first three pages during our live stream, which we’re actively manipulating. It seems illogical that 19,000 accounts have been banned when those who are blatantly breaking the rules are even making it to the leaderboard. Are we losing our minds? What’s the explanation for this situation?

A well-known live streamer, Westie, expressed his opinion that Activision’s Ricochet updates have little impact on the gameplay and essentially make no difference at all. He also voiced concerns about cheating persisting in Warzone, stating it appears as though the anti-cheat system has been deactivated altogether.

Another issue that Call of Duty fans have surfaced is that the Ranked mode on console forces players to use cross-play, which puts them into matches with PC players. A mouse-and-keyboard setup is understood to be the most precise way to play a FPS like Call of Duty, and many have voiced concerns about a “level playing field” when people on console, using a controller, are forced to play against people using mouse and keyboard. Then there is the issue of cheating, as it’s generally easier to install cheat software on PC compared to console.

Speaking about Call of Duty updates, Activision has decreased the maximum number of players on the latest Warzone map, Area 99. Additionally, they shared that Black Ops 6 saw its largest debut yet within the series, partially due to its availability on Game Pass.
