Arcane Showrunner reveals 3 more League of Legends TV shows in production

As a dedicated fan who has spent countless hours exploring the vibrant and intricate world of League of Legends, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming TV shows set in Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia! Having followed the epic tale of Arcane and its characters from Piltover, it’s fascinating to imagine the untold stories that await us in these new regions.

The showrunner for Arcane has announced that there are currently three upcoming TV series based on League of Legends, and shared the locations where each one will take place.

At last, Arcane has concluded, and the series’ second season conclusively tells the tale of Piltover with an impressive flourish. Although numerous narrative threads were tied up in the finale, it hints at the potential for the upcoming spin-offs that the show creators have hinted at.

Although the specifics about Arcane’s future and the further development of the League of Legends cinematic universe remain uncertain, we can now definitively say that three new television series based on the League of Legends franchise are being developed. Each show will be set in distinct regions within the game.

In a recent Twitch interview with streamer Necrit94, Arcane showrunner Christian Linke revealed that the next League of Legends series has already [been] in development for about a year”.

The partner emphasized that Riot Games still has a lot of work ahead as they construct a collection to narrate fresh tales and carry on existing ones.

Furthermore, Linke clarified the settings for the upcoming three series, disclosing that “Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia will be the locations and represent the next phases in expanding this cinematic universe.

League of Legends Regions explained

Mel and Ambessa Medara hail from Noxus, a notorious region renowned for its ferocity and dominance, with a strong emphasis on warfare and expansion.

Located amidst dangerous waters, Ionia is made up of numerous connected territories spread out over an expansive chain of islands, often referred to by some as the First Landmass.

Ionia, a vast region, is predominantly encircled by a grand body of water. Comprising numerous distinct provinces and landmasses, it stretches out over an expansive archipelago referred to as the First Lands. Notable League of Legends champions originating from Ionia include Irelia, Master Yi, Shen, and Zed.

In the League of Legends game, the significant setting known as Demacia holds a prominent position. The heart of this entire region is governed by the Great City, which serves as a residence for the aristocracy of the area. Some well-known champions in the game who hail from Demacia include Fiora, Garen, Kayle, and Lux.

What does this mean for the future of the LoL cinematic universe?

As a gamer, I’m hyped! While it seems like Jinx and Echo have reached some sort of closure, the thrilling ending of Arcane Season 2 has definitely left room for more stories to unfold. Among those is the intriguing tale of Mel Medarda that I can’t wait to see in the next season!

Towards the conclusion of Arcane season 2, Mel engages in a fierce confrontation against her mother, Ambessa Medarda. With Caitlyn by her side, Mel manages to subdue Ambessa and hand her over to the Black Rose – an organization that had long been pursuing Ambessa.

In an unexpected turn of events, it’s revealed that Mel turns against the Black Rose, setting up potential storylines for the upcoming series. Since the Black Rose is a covert group situated in Noxus, where Mel hails from, it seems likely she will return home and face this hidden organization.

Mel’s adventure through Arcane saw her evolve and uncover hidden truths about herself, ultimately discovering her true strength and destiny during the last episodes of the series. It seems highly probable that Noxus will be the next region delved into in the cinematic universe, as League of Legends is adding a significant amount of new content centered around this region.

In the world of League of Legends, places like Ionia and Demacia were seldom explored or featured in the series Arcane. A significant number of characters originating from these regions did not make an appearance on the show.

Based on Link’s remarks, it seems these three upcoming shows could serve as building blocks for sharing novel tales. By moving the storyline to these unexplored settings, there’s a strong chance we’ll encounter new heroes emerging.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but appreciate the creative liberty this decision offers for further expanding the universe. Instead of revisiting Piltover again, we’re given a chance to explore new horizons, which makes the franchise’s world-building even more intriguing!
