As a seasoned gamer who’s been around the block more times than I care to count, I must say that watching Dan Hooker take on IShowSpeed at City Kickboxing was quite an exhilarating spectacle! The adrenaline rush of seeing two different worlds collide was something I couldn’t resist.
During his bout with UFC fighter Dan ‘Hangman’ Hooker, IShowSpeed encountered some unexpected outcomes, as Hooker knocked him down on several occasions while they were inside the cage.
In the year 2024, exploring different parts of the world has turned into a significant aspect of Speed’s live streaming schedule. Following trips to Europe and Southeast Asia, this YouTube personality is currently embarking on a journey through Oceania.
After spending a few days in Australia where he engaged with local athletes, Speed has since moved on to New Zealand and continues his activities. He’s currently visiting City Kickboxing, the most renowned mixed martial arts gym on the island. Notably, this social media sensation found himself flat on his back inside the cage.
Notable fighters such as ex-UFC champion Israel Adesanya and interim title contender Kai Kara-France have made a significant impact on the international stage while undergoing training at CKB. However, it’s Dan Hooker, also known as “The Hangman,” who stands out among the best from this gym. It was Hooker that Speed faced off against when the cage door closed behind him.

Dan Hooker takes on IShowSpeed at City Kickboxing
Approaching the facility around midday on November 25th, that’s when Speed made his entrance, exchanging greetings with some rising athletes, trainers, and of course, none other than the Hangman. In classic Speed style, he confidently declared, “There isn’t anyone here who can outbox me.
As it turned out, the melody of speed altered drastically when the crucial moment arrived, and he found himself at the receiving end of some gentle blows and an initial grounding by a novice in the gym. “They’re just trying to intimidate me,” he remarked after repeatedly modifying the rules to his advantage.
Following that, it was the turn of Hangman, a UFC veteran with ten years of experience and 24 victories, who emphasized promptly, “No kicking is allowed.” Speed explained, “I understand how this game can evolve. I don’t want any injuries. Let’s stick to boxing instead.
For a couple of minutes, Speed primarily moved along the perimeter of the fighting arena, attempting to maintain some distance. However, there were instances where he hesitated excessively, which unfortunately played into Hooker’s advantage. On several occasions, Hooker took full advantage of these moments and launched attacks that knocked down the streamer.
Welcome to my realm, friend,” Hangman chuckled, “And just a heads-up, I’m the lighter one here, as proven by our weights when we stepped into the gym.
After exiting the ring, Speed remarked briefly, “You were quite formidable.” He added, “It seemed to me that you were holding back, giving me an easier time.
In just a short while on social media, Hangman reciprocated the kindness with his own comment. On Instagram, he wrote, “What a guy with nerves of steel!

Of course, this isn’t the first time Speed has been boxing on camera. But given the level of competition he faced in New Zealand, it’s safe to say a UFC run isn’t in the cards anytime soon. Though he may have a future in the influencer boxing realm.
