As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of watching blockbusters under my belt, I must say, the news of Jonathan Bailey stepping into Jeff Goldblum’s dinosaur-sized shoes in “Jurassic World Rebirth” has me genuinely thrilled!

Jeff Goldblum is handing off the dinosaur-sized torch to “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey.

In the upcoming “Jurassic World Rebirth” movie, Bailey is stepping into the character of Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist – and there’s no one more eager to watch this film unfold than Goldblum himself!

Goldblum expresses that the future of our world lies with someone, and he believes there’s no more fitting person to continue the famous ‘da da da da da,'” Goldblum says to EbMaster, humming the memorable Jurassic Park theme by John Williams. “It’s Jonathan Bailey! He’s truly unique!

Bailey mentioned that he and Goldblum discussed their roles for the first time during their trip to CinemaCon earlier this year. “I received an invitation to become part of the ‘Jurassic’ universe, to follow in Jeff’s footsteps,” Bailey stated. “The original movie was a significant cinematic experience due largely to Jeff, but also because it was such a memorable occasion for my family and the immersive experience of watching a film so brilliantly crafted.

Bailey remarks, “I’m thrilled to be a part of so many wonderful things, just as I was with ‘Wicked.’ However, it also brings a sense of duty. If I can even come close to the success Jeff, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern had, I will consider myself extremely fortunate.

Jeff Goldblum portrayed the popular chaos mathematics expert Dr. Ian Malcolm in the 1993 movie “Jurassic Park.” He repeated this role for the 1997 film titled “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” and once more in 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” as well as in 2022’s “Jurassic World Dominion.

In the upcoming seventh installment of the “Jurassic” series, which is 31 years old and set to feature Bailey, Scarlett Johansson, and Mahershala Ali, the story unfolds five years after the events of “Jurassic World Dominion.” The global environment has become largely hostile to dinosaurs, with only a few surviving in isolated equatorial regions that mimic their original climate. In this tropical ecosystem, the three largest dinosaurs possess a secret: they hold the key to a drug that could offer extraordinary healing powers for humanity.

In the movie “Wicked,” releasing on November 22nd, Bailey’s character Fiyero captivates every student at Shiz University with his charisma, whereas Goldblum’s character, the Wizard of Oz, is preoccupied with managing affairs in the Emerald City. This means that they do not appear together on screen in this film.

Initially, you’ll find yourself captivated by his allure and effortless charm, much like savoring the richness of a fine wine, according to Bailey. He further explains that Fiyero’s habit of flirting with both men and women served to add depth to the character of the Winkie prince. “As a personality,” he continues, “I perceived him as self-assured and comfortable in his own skin, extending an invitation to anyone to visit Winkie town.

Goldblum exclaims excitedly, “Charming! Charming!” But Bailey counters by stating that the Wizard is truly the captivating character of the movie. Laughing, Bailey declares, “He’s the original romantic lead,” to which Goldblum responds by breaking into song once more: this time singing “(They Long to Be) Close to You.” Bailey happily joins in with him.

Goldblum shares that his character’s inspiration wasn’t drawn from contemporary leaders when developing the powerful figure. Instead, he notes that the script was created long before our current situation, yet it remains a timeless tale. “It has always been the role of individuals who strive for truth, discover their power, and understand that, similar to ‘Horton Hears a Who,’ one effective person can steer the ship of state and maintain progress towards an ideal nation and world where our planet benefits all,” he explains.
