Gazorg, Son of Zorg, Rewards
Gazorg, Son of Zorg is one of the first bosses you’ll encounter in the game. He might be tricky at first, but learning his attack pattern makes him a relatively easy opponent to defeat.
As a fan of this game, I’ve found there’s a really helpful way to approach this boss that makes the fight much more manageable – basically, a way to get a little boost beforehand. It’s something you’ll want to figure out pretty early on, though, because like most roguelikes, you can’t backtrack, so choosing your path wisely from the start is key!
I’ll explain his attacks, the quickest way to find him, and how to defeat him or gain an edge in battle. Before long, he’ll be just another enemy you’ve overcome.
Best Path to Gazorg, Son of Zorg

To reach Gazorg, take the same route you’d use to find The Underking. Along the way, you’ll encounter the Mushtroll boss – don’t worry, it’s an easy fight! Defeating it will grant you bonus inspiration, giving you a helpful advantage.

To find the path, head to the leaf-covered area where you first start the game and destroy the boulder there. This will reveal a new route. After a couple of battles, you’ll be able to defeat the Mushtroll and unlock the ability.
Next, you’ll reach a camp where you can recover before continuing down the lower path. You’ll go through an area with a waterfall and finally arrive at your goal, where you’ll face Gazorg, Son of Zorg.
Beating Gazorg, Son of Zorg

Gazorg isn’t a particularly hard boss, but the area you fight him in is quite cramped considering how big he is. If you’re not careful about your positioning, he can easily trap you and inflict a lot of damage.
Gazorg, unlike The Underking, focuses entirely on close-combat attacks and controlling a large area of the battlefield; he doesn’t have any ranged options.
Phase One

Gazorg starts by attacking repeatedly, and his attacks stay pretty consistent throughout the fight. However, it’s important to watch for changes, because ignoring them could quickly lead to a failed attempt.
This video will show you how to defend against most of his attacks, and we’ve also included a helpful reference table.
Attack | Description | Dodge, Deflect, or Clash |
---|---|---|
Spin Swing | Gazorg swings his mace around him. | Deflect |
Overhead Swing | Gazorg pulls his weapon back and then slams it down three times or until it hits. | Deflect |
Drop Kick | Gazorg jumps into the air and kicks across the screen. Red Indicator attack. | Dodge |
Phase Two

Gazorg won’t learn any new attacks, but during this stage, he’ll start summoning enemies for you to battle. Be careful – his existing attacks will become more powerful, so don’t assume the fight will be easy!
The video and chart below will explain how to defeat him. Once you reach a specific point in the fight, you’ll be able to attack him repeatedly until he becomes a standard enemy with a large amount of health.
Attack | Description | Dodge, Deflect, or Clash |
---|---|---|
Spin Swing | Gazorg swings his mace around him 3–5 times and then kneels on the ground. | Deflect three times in a row |
Overhead Swing | Gazorg pulls his weapon back and then slams it down three times or until it hits. Immediately follows up with a drop-kick. | Deflect |
Drop Kick | Gazorg jumps into the air and kicks across the screen. Red Indicator attack. | Dodge |
Summoning Horn | Gazorg jumps to the middle of the arena and summons two goblins to aid him in battle. | N/A |
Hitting your opponent while they’re jumping or airborne can deal significant damage and give you a strong advantage.
Now that’s covered, you’re equipped to deal with anything Gazorg throws your way. You can defeat him and then focus on the next challenge: The Underking.
Tips and Tricks

This battle isn’t too challenging, but if you’re having trouble, here are some helpful hints to get you through it.
- Play Aggressively — Gazorg is easy to get Pressure on when you attack after his attacks finish.
- Use the Opportunities — Gazorg has a few openings, like when he kneels or summons allies. This can be a great time to get a long combo off on him that reduces his health immensely.
- Throw the Goblins — When Gazorg summons the goblins, you can use them to break his attacks much easier since impact damage from throws causes a small stun, usually.
Even when Gazorg is attacking and you’re taking damage, remember that using deflect can quickly position you for a counterattack. Plus, deflecting lets you attack right away, giving you an opportunity to build up Pressure.
Gazorg, Son of Zorg, Rewards

Okay, so just like with Gazorg and all the other bosses, once you take down this one, you’ll unlock a cool new ability. Plus, it opens up access to the Goblin Haven! That place is awesome – you can heal up, stock up on items, and even get a companion to help you out. It’s a total game changer.
Gazorg and Rudolf are opposing bosses – Rudolf leads Stonedale, and Gazorg is his rival. You’ll always have to fight one of them, so be ready for a tough battle no matter which you choose.
