Over the years, dinosaurs have become iconic figures in Hollywood. But their influence goes beyond movies and TV – the Sinclair gas station chain, mainly found in the western U.S., has used a bright green brontosaurus as its logo for decades. Recently, a four-foot-tall version of the dinosaur was stolen from a station in Brentwood, California, and the story gained enough attention to attract comments from actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
Around the end of September, a popular dinosaur statue named Claire disappeared from a Sinclair gas station in Northern California. Claire, who stands four feet tall, was a local favorite – people loved taking pictures with her, decorating her for holidays, and simply seeing her friendly face. Everyone was surprised and upset when security footage showed someone driving off in a white pickup truck with the mascot during the night.
The unexpected story resonated with customers, the shop owner John Fawcett, and many people online who saw news reports about it. This is where Jamie Lee Curtis, the actress who was going to play Jessica Fletcher in a potential *Murder, She Wrote* revival, enters the picture. She initially commented on the situation before news of the shop owner’s return, posting on Instagram after seeing the video of the thieves stealing from the beloved local business. True to form, she publicly criticized the thieves, saying:
Seriously? You’re stealing the dinosaur statue from the Sinclair gas station with your truck? That’s just not okay. Things are changing, and not in a good way if this is happening.
She’s a major star in Hollywood and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. It’s easy to picture the people who took Claire getting nervous when she intervened. Perhaps her involvement even convinced them to return the large, valuable statue?
This occasion is nothing new for Curtis. She does take to socials with some regularity, including her first and second Instagram post regarding the beloved dino. Everything from shading Emily Blunt and her TDWP2 outfit to her AI beef with Mark Zuckerberg have been fair game.
As we previously noted, after the community – including the star of *Halloween* – became aware of the dinosaur’s abduction, Claire was safely returned. You can see footage on Fox’s YouTube channel showing her return and the joy it brought to everyone. However, a new nighttime curfew has been implemented. Claire will be kept indoors until the brontosaurus is securely anchored, and here she is being put away for the night.
I’m a huge fan of Jenna Ortega and her work, and Claire’s storyline is really exciting for me. It’s been so much fun connecting with other fans – whether it’s celebrating the success of *Freakier Friday* or seeing *Sinners* in IMAX. But this new story about seeking justice in Brentwood is especially cool and takes things to a whole new level.
Okay, so the whole Claire the dinosaur debacle at the gas station is thankfully wrapped up, and now I’m really anticipating what Jennifer Lawrence has coming next. Her last film of 2025, *Ella McCay*, hits theaters December 12th, and from what I’ve heard, it’s going to be another fantastic movie featuring Curtis. I’m already marking my calendar!
