Love Is Blind is back, and this season is set in Denver! Five couples who got engaged without seeing each other are now living together, meeting each other’s families and friends – and even some of their past partners. But things aren’t going smoothly for most of them. These relationships are starting to feel very unstable, kind of like trying to stay on a mechanical bull – you know it won’t last, but you try to hang on as long as you can. The cameras are probably helping too – nobody wants to look bad on TV!
Let’s get back to Madison and Joe’s trip to Baja, where things were rocky. They had a fight because Joe wouldn’t get out of bed to comfort Madison when she was upset, and she ended up crying outside the door hoping he’d come to her – but he didn’t. The next day, they apologized and acknowledged each other’s feelings, and Madison said they were still physically intimate. However, I’m not convinced they’ve actually resolved the deeper problems that caused the fight in the first place, so it’s likely to happen again.
Watching these couples try to work things out is… frustrating, honestly. Take Jordan and Sparkle Megan – he’ll apologize and say he’ll be more sensitive, but then immediately runs to his friends to complain that *she* was the one who brought it up wrong. And he hints that their busy schedules might be a good thing, which feels…avoidant. There’s definitely more going on there than they’re letting on. Then there’s Edmond and Kalybriah, who claim they’re glad they fought about intimacy, but it still feels like they’re at an impasse – she wants to wait, and he’s still very vocal about what he wants. And Nick and Annie? They just…go to bed after a really tough conversation where Annie basically asks if he even loves her as much as she loves him. It’s all just… messy and unresolved, and it leaves you wanting more explanation.
Many couples believe that disagreements actually make their relationships healthier. However, the stress of planning a wedding – and returning to Denver – is so intense that guests at the second group party in Baja spent a full two minutes openly sharing their worries, set to the song “Anxiety” by Doechii.
Now that the couples have arrived in Denver, are they finding it as challenging as they expected? Let’s look at how each couple is doing so far.
Nick and Annie
The episode starts with Nick and Annie discussing their recent argument, which Nick describes as Annie completely overwhelming him. He emphasizes they can’t repeat that pattern, and Annie acknowledges she’s more comfortable with the intensity of the relationship than he is right now. Later, Nick shows Annie his mountain home, and she’s surprised by all his traditionally masculine interests. Meanwhile, Nick surprisingly admits he’s attracted to larger women. They also discuss practicalities – Nick wants to keep his mountain place and find a city home closer to Annie’s work. Annie quickly wins over Nick’s parents, who reveal he’s always been their sensitive and cherished son.
Madison and Joe
Joe is puzzled that Madison doesn’t seem concerned about their experiment, leading her to question his motives and if he’s actually enjoying their relationship. She bluntly tells him she isn’t going to be negative. Their conversation becomes heated, and Joe follows up with a frustrated apology, saying he’ll keep his feelings to himself. Madison briefly removes her wedding ring, but they reconcile the next day, repeating the empty promise that it won’t happen again without addressing the underlying issues. Despite their conflict, Madison gets along well with Joe’s family. Joe admits in a private interview that the night actually brought them closer and reminded him of what initially attracted him to her. He laments, however, that his family can’t always be there to maintain that positive feeling.
Sparkle Megan and Jordan
I’m really rooting for Megan! She clearly wants to be a great stepmom to Luca, but she’s also trying to be respectful of everyone involved. Jordan’s made it clear he just wants Luca to have a lot of quality time and fun experiences, which is sweet. Honestly, it’s a little nerve-wracking watching her try to figure things out because she doesn’t know when she’ll even get to meet Luca or his mom, and she has a big decision to make about marrying into this family!
While all this is happening, Megan’s mom and sister see Jordan as a clear sign that Luca has type 1 diabetes. Her sister even had a dream where their father told her, “He’s just like me—that’s how I knew Megan would connect with him.” It’s a touching thought, but it’s easy to fall into the trap of seeing coincidences as fate. (Though, a couple who bonded over their shared love of Christmas are still together, so it *can* work out!) Megan also realizes she needs to be more open about what she needs from Jordan. Despite still having some things to figure out, her family approves of their relationship. Her parents, who fell in love instantly, aren’t too surprised by it all.
Megan begins house hunting with a $2 million budget and playfully suggests Jordan co-sign a $500,000 loan. Jordan, who’s used to being financially independent, struggles with the idea of relying on Megan, not wanting to feel like he’s not contributing or holding her back from her goals. It’s proving difficult to find a home they both love that they can comfortably afford. Still, Megan’s acceptance of him, even his quirky side, gives him hope that they can overcome any challenges.
Ali and Anton
During our time in Baja, this couple stood out – they never argued, unlike everyone else we saw. I remember Anton mentioning he gets a bit clumsy when he has wine, and now it makes sense why the cameras focused on his spilled drink for so long. It was a hint of things to come. The real problem in their relationship isn’t about superficial things like money or public displays of affection; it’s about partying. Ali seems secure in her feelings for Anton, but she’s becoming increasingly worried about his drinking and his love of going out.
Ali was upset to learn from a friend that Anton used to frequent strip clubs and enjoy partying before they started dating. She’s also bothered by his occasional drinking after work. Since Ali strongly dislikes Denver’s nightlife and even wants to move to Florida to escape it, she’s starting to wonder if Anton is truly ready for a serious relationship and a quieter life together. It’s frustrating that they never openly discuss these issues; the only hint of her discontent comes when she simply sighs “Yeah” when Anton talks about pizza and champagne being “their thing.”
Kalybriah and Edmond
It was surprising to finally meet Edmond’s mother, especially knowing he often spent time away from her as a child. It’s unclear how his wives will react to her complaints about them talking to their husbands. However, because Kalybriah doesn’t rely on her husband to solve her problems, she seems to like her. She’s thrilled about their upcoming trip to Ghana and believes they’ll soon be having a baby. This couple’s storyline was pretty calm this week, aside from a quick clip of Kalybriah unsuccessfully trying to roller skate, until a small reunion took place.
Let’s get into it, shall we?
The party drew a big crowd, and everyone dressed up in Western wear, ready to have fun and not worry too much about getting dirty. Almost everyone, that is – Kacie stayed away. The guys were upset on Patrick’s behalf when they found out she wouldn’t even answer his calls. He told them they’d broken up just a day after reconciling, and she completely stopped responding when he asked for the ring back.
Jordan and Joe predictably became loud and a bit inappropriate while drinking. Joe started a strange and pointless discussion about who Annie would be more compatible with romantically – Nick or Brenden. However, Joe also provided my favorite moment of the week: his awkward attempt to say something nice about Nick, which resulted in him only being able to compliment Nick’s hat, comparing it to something Aretha Franklin would wear.
The ex-couples are all having different kinds of conversations, ranging from friendly to awkward. Brenden acts like he’s unaffected by things, which makes Annie feel good about her decision to not be with him. We also see Kait quickly lose interest in Nick, and she doesn’t even want him to explain what happened during their time in the pods. Megan makes it clear she’s not getting back together with Mike, and Anna does the same with Patrick, who surprisingly claims he would have married her if she hadn’t ended things. He doesn’t realize why Anna feels this diminishes the sincerity of his feelings for both her and Kacie. It might have helped to show flashbacks during these conversations, as it’s been a while since the original drama unfolded, making it hard to fully connect with the current tension.
The biggest conflicts on the show definitely happen between Edmond and Kalybriah. They started the night strong – she cheered him on while he rode the mechanical bull, even shouting “That’s my man!” – but things quickly turned tense. A casual comment from Annie led Edmond to express how nice it must be to be praised, admitting he rarely hears positive feedback from Kalybriah. He tried to drop the conversation, but Kalybriah felt he was the one who brought it up in the first place. She asked him to directly answer her questions instead of just saying he loves her or acting immaturely. Eventually, she just wanted to be left alone. Luckily, Edmond wasn’t withdrawing as he sometimes does, so she ended up seeking peace in the bathroom. Surprisingly, a preview for the next episode showed them holding hands and smiling, which is completely baffling given everything that just happened. This show is incredibly frustrating to watch!
Extra Engaged
Let’s take a look at the results of my weekly poll among my coworkers at New York/Vulture. This week, an equal number of people participated, which means we have clean, whole-number percentages to share!
🥇Ali and Anton (60%)
🥇Sparkle Megan and Jordan (60%)
🥉Edmond and Kalybriah (50%)
😬Annie and Nick (25%)
😭Madison and Joe (0%)
And to think, Annie and Nick were in first place last week…
Jordan and Sparkle Meg were both top picks this week! We couldn’t agree on a single villain, but all the nominees were male, so it seems like the guys are really standing out this season – which, honestly, isn’t surprising.
I recently talked to Anna and learned more about why she left the pods, as well as details about her parents. They seem to live a very disconnected life, which is something I admire. Also, my coworker Nick had a fantastic interview with Patrick!
A Couple of Last Thoughts
Everyone’s jumping to conclusions about Kalybriah, Ali, and Anton’s girlfriend. Maybe they simply needed to use the restroom! Hopefully, the show allows performers to mute their mics when they go to the bathroom.
It seems like the producers might have started filming as soon as phones were returned to the contestants, possibly to capture any immediate drama similar to what happened with Dave and Lauren last season. Regardless, I really liked seeing the cast members connect with their families and friends at the airport.
