Wow, Evo France was absolutely massive! It officially became the biggest fighting game tournament ever held in the EU. Players from all over the world came to Nice to compete – it was insane!
Evo France will be held from October 10th to 12th at the Palais des Expositions in Nice. This marks the first time the popular fighting game event, previously held in Las Vegas and Japan, is coming to Europe.
The Evolution Championship Series, now known as Evo, started with small fighting game tournaments held in arcades during the 1990s, organized by passionate community members Tom and Tony Cannon. Over time, Evo Las Vegas grew into the biggest and most important event for fighting game players and fans to compete and connect.
Evo has grown beyond its origins in the United States, with events now held in other countries. Evo Japan launched in 2018, and the first Evo France is scheduled for 2025. There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Evo France, and player sign-ups are proving it’s highly anticipated.

Evo France unites 93 countries in record-breaking tournament
According to a recent press release from Evo shared with TopMob, Evo France has become the biggest fighting game tournament ever held in the European Union. Players from 93 different countries are competing, representing all continents including Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Africa.
It’s amazing to think that competitors from 63 different countries participated in Evo Las Vegas 2024 – making it the biggest Evo tournament ever held.
France has the most participants registered for the event, with an impressive 1,948 entries. The UK follows with 584 players, and Germany takes third place at 286. Spain (231), Italy (183), the United States (128), the Netherlands (121), Poland (85), and Belgium (76) also have a significant number of players competing.

Evo’s General Manager, Rick Thiher, stated that while they expected France to be a great location for their first European event, they were amazed by the participation of competitors from 93 different countries.
Fighting game communities are proving their global influence, and Evo plans to celebrate their continued success when the event returns to Nice in 2026.
Competitors will battle it out in a variety of seven different fighting games, such as Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Guilty Gear Strive, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Evo has a history of setting records. In 2024, Evo Las Vegas became the largest esports event ever held, attracting 10,224 players from 63 different countries.
Evo is growing! In 2026, the popular fighting game tournament will be held in Singapore, making it the first Evo event ever in Southeast Asia.
