New Code Vein II screenshots details characters and combat

After showing a release date trailer and screenshots at Tokyo Game Show, Bandai Namco has revealed more details about Code Vein II, including information on the characters and how the combat will work in this new action RPG.

Code Vein II will be available on January 30, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam.

Characters

Protagonist

This hunter battles the undead to safeguard humankind. Their quest to prevent global catastrophe leads them back in time, a century into the past.

Lou Magmell

This girl is a Revenant with the unique ability to travel into the past by following a person’s emotional journey, or ‘Pathos’. She saved the protagonist – a Revenant Hunter who died on a mission – by giving him her own heart. Now, together, they’re traveling back in time on a quest to save the world.

Valentin Voda

I’m a huge fan of this character! He’s from one of the oldest and most powerful vampire families, the Voda House – they’re directly descended from the very first vampire! He used to run MagMell, which was basically a super advanced magical research center, studying really old and powerful magic. And on top of all that, he’s a judge! He helps resolve conflicts between vampires and humans, which is a pretty tough job, honestly.

Josee Anjou

I’m completely captivated by the Revenant, the ruler of the Sunken City. She’s built these amazing shelters for the few people left, trying to keep them safe. But she’s also really burdened by something that happened before – she couldn’t stop a huge outbreak that caused so much devastation. It clearly weighs on her, but she doesn’t let it stop her; she’s always out there fighting, protecting everyone she can. She’s a true guardian, constantly on the front lines.

Noah G Magmell

Once a human, he’s now a Revenant from Mag Mell’s Research Institute, having lived 100 years ago. He fiercely protects his friend Valentin, who admires his power, and willingly accepts any dangerous task to keep him safe.

Lyle Mcleish

This incredibly skilled Revenant is a renowned swordsman and the top fighter for The Dawn Chorus, a group working to restore the Corroded Scar. He’s known for his fearless, almost reckless, fighting style, which worries even those on his own side, and he prefers to work alone.

Holly Asturias

Deep in the forest, a doctor of the Revenant works at a secluded clinic. She uses the healing abilities passed down through her family’s Luxuria Bloodline – a lineage said to be cursed – to study and heal those afflicted by the mysterious Resurgence, and the corrupted Revenants it spawns.

Lavinia Voda

She’s a Revenant, a descendant of the hero who once saved the world. Now, in a world falling apart, she leads MagMell, a group dedicated to saving what’s left of humanity. She chooses the protagonist and Lou for a crucial mission: to travel back in time and prevent the coming disaster.

Partner System

Throughout your journey, you’ll encounter characters such as Joseé who can join you by having their essence stored in a core on your back. This transforms them into a Partner, allowing them to fight alongside you and lend you their abilities.

Code Vein 2 builds on the intense combat of the original game, offering even more action-packed battles against challenging foes. As you fight to protect the future, you’ll gain power by absorbing enemy energy, allowing you to unleash devastating new attacks. You’ll also have access to a wider range of skills, weapons, and movement options to help you succeed.
