A French social media influencer received a one-year prison sentence after being caught stabbing people with empty needles as a ‘prank’ for online content. Authorities arrested him after he targeted unsuspecting members of the public.
Prank videos are very popular online and often spread quickly, but they also frequently lead to criticism of the person playing the prank.
People who try to pull pranks have gotten into legal trouble before, especially when they film them to share online. Now, another person is in jail because of a prank that caused a lot of controversy.
Amine Mojito, a 27-year-old TikToker from France, is in trouble with the law after a series of ‘pranks’ he performed in June. He pretended to stab strangers with empty needles, causing significant distress and fear that they might have been infected. Now, he’s facing criticism and potential jail time for his actions.
French authorities have sentenced Amine Mojito, nicknamed “the crazy stabber,” to six months in prison. He was known for threatening people on the street with an empty syringe.

Okay, so this guy’s prank videos are EVERYWHERE online, and people are seriously upset – and rightfully so. It turns out he wasn’t just messing around; he was actually poking people with something sharp! It’s not funny at all, and a lot of people are disgusted that he actually hurt people for views. It’s way beyond a harmless prank, honestly.
French TikToker gets 12 months in prison for needle prank
Once officials learned about the prank, they arrested the TikToker and held him in jail at Fleury-Mérogis for two months while awaiting his sentencing, which was scheduled for October 3, 2025.
The French court convicted him of assault with a weapon that didn’t cause serious injury, and sentenced him to a year in prison. However, he only has to serve six months, as the other six are suspended – meaning he won’t serve them if he follows the judge’s rules.
In addition to other penalties, he received a €1,500 fine (equivalent to $1,761 USD) and is prohibited from owning or possessing any weapons for the next three years.
In court, the TikTok creator explained he was simply copying pranks he’d seen done in Spain and Portugal, and didn’t realize how serious his actions were.
He admitted he got a bad idea from online pranks he’d seen in Spain and Portugal. He didn’t realize his actions could harm others, saying he was focused on himself and didn’t consider the impact on anyone else, according to Libération.

The lawyer thanked the court for the sentence, stating it would help calm down the intense media coverage and strike a fairer balance between maintaining public safety and protecting his client’s rights.
Prosecutors originally requested the TikToker be monitored electronically for a year and three months. However, he will now serve six months in jail instead.
Amine Mojito isn’t the first online personality to get in trouble for a prank. Just last July, influencer Heston James was arrested after pretending to work at various businesses and recording the resulting confusion for his videos.
In 2023, YouTuber Tanner Cook was shot by a delivery driver while filming a prank at a mall. Cook had gotten very close to the driver, holding his phone up to their face and repeatedly playing a loud sound. The driver was later found not guilty, with the court accepting a claim of self-defense.
