Luckily, the game lets you stay underwater as long as you like – there’s no need to worry about running out of air. You’ll have a stamina bar for quick movements like dashing, but you can quickly recharge it by swimming through glowing fish. The underwater area is meant to be enjoyable and relaxing, not stressful!

When you first arrive, the most important things to do are activate the nearest Statue of The Seven and unlock Teleport Waypoints. Activating the Statue will reveal part of the map and give your character a helpful Hydro ability. While unlocking Waypoints might seem like a chore, it will make getting around the large map much easier later on.

Do you *need* Fontaine characters to solve puzzles? Not always, but having at least one will make things much simpler. The entire Fontaine region revolves around the Pneuma and Ousia system, which is key for both battles and puzzle-solving. If you haven’t gotten any Fontaine characters through Wishes, don’t worry! Your Traveler will gain abilities related to this system just by visiting a Statue of The Seven, giving you a character who can help.

You don’t have to follow the main story to have fun in Fontaine! While the story is great, Fontaine is a paradise for players who love to explore. The underwater areas are full of secrets – hidden caves, old ruins, and interesting creatures. Plus, there are tons of treasure chests, challenges, and puzzles to discover that aren’t connected to the main quest. You can easily spend many hours exploring the world, collecting resources, and battling new bosses without ever touching the main storyline.
